Preparation:

1) Extract the mod files to your Fallout directory.

2) Find the model item (in Meshes/..) and rename it:

e.g. Helmet.nif to HelmetSHOJOFIX.nif

3) Get FO3Edit (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637)

Creating the ESP file:

4) Start FO3Edit and tick the ESP/ESM file containing the item.

5) Find and right click the item, click "Copy as new record into...".

6) Rename or append to the original item name.

7) Tick "<new file>". Click OK.

8) Type in a descriptive filename, then click OK.

9) Click YES.

10) Find the new ESP you have just created and left-click on the item.

- Take down the item number (in the FormID column on the left)

- In the frame on the right, look for Male/Female Biped Model. Right click the "MODL - Model Filename" and click Edit. Change the model filename to the modded version (the renamed file from step 2). Edit the MODL entry for Male/Female as well, if applicable.

- Edit "FULL - Name". This is displayed in-game as the item name.

Spawning the item in-game:

11) Take note of the Load Order Number in FOMM

http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/5541/68342189.gif

12) In-game, press ~ (tilde) to get the console.

- Type in "player.additem xxnnnnnn 1". Press enter.

- "xx" = FOMM load order number and "nnnnnn" = the item number from FO3Edit (*omit first 2 numbers*).

- In the example above, the item ID would be: 2A000800

So far, I've managed up until STEP 10, where I got stuck with a question.

So, I've extracted the following shojofix files (namechange included):

ghostarmoreyegogglesshojofix.nif

ghostarmoreyeshojofix.nif

ghostarmorfacemaskenergyshojofix.nif

ghostarmorfacemaskshojofix.nif

Now I'm running through all the MOD3 - Modelfilenames (in Female Biped model) and changing the .nif's as I go. But I've run into two .nif's I don't know with what I have to replace them:

ghostarmorfacemaskFULL.nif

ghostarmorfacemaskFULLtemp.nif

I found these in:

Ghost Mask Sho

Ghost Mask Sho Goggles

Ghost Mask Spectare Sho

Ghost Mask Spectare Sho Goggles

The question: do you happen to know with what I have to replace these .nif's? Do I even have to replace these .nif's?

Otherwise: great explanation, the problem I have seems to be specific to the thing I'm trying to change, so I can't blame you. So far so good ;-)

Thanks,

Doooom

  • 1 month later...

I've managed to get it done, tested it and it's working perfectly! I only had to realise the FULL's are full face masks completely replacing the head in all when worn.

Thanks for the tutorial! I hope this might help out others too!
