Deathmore10
Sorry for the bump but, I downloaded the SKS rens hair pack and I understand the entire process of adding hair to races but, when I try to add the hairs to a race it says that the icon for the .dds file is missing. Does anyone know why this is and or how to fix this? In case I'm missing something I'll lay it out nice and simple. 1. I downloaded the SKS rens hair file after looking it up.2. I extracted the contents.3. I went through the process in the construction set, went to hair, made an editor ID & name (Editor ID: SKS00) (name: 00) then I located the .nif file and that seemed fine. Then I located the .dds file (Not the hh.dds hl.dds or n.dds) But after clicking it, it came up with this (Icon file "Textures\Hair Style\SKS REN's 00.dds not found" which is the file I clicked on. 4. I ignored the message, then clicked the box "playable" and proceeded with adding it to the Moonshadow elves custom race. I went to the race tab, then selected Moonshadow Elves, selected the body tab, dragged the hairstyle over to the hairstyles list for the race.5. I then went into the game to create a new character (a moonshadow elf) but the hair style isn't there, a hair style named 00 is there but it's just the vanilla buzzcut hair that comes with Oblivion instead of the hair style I added. So does anyone have any info on why this would be happening? Any help is greatly appreciated. ^_^ It's the same file package others have downloaded so I don't see why the .dds file would have problems. Kjkirimi
Are you sure you're doing this right? You're missing textures, that's why you can't see the hair in game. Try installing the textures again and make sure they're selected in cs.I have a heavily modified Moonshadow Elf myself, but the meshes are the same and it works just fine for me. Deathmore10
Well I guess my first question is, are there any requirements whatsoever? As far as I knew it didn't have any, considering the file package I downloaded only had a file setup like so SKSRen's.rar Extracted it.. Then it's a bunch of pictures jpgs I believe, and a DATA folder. In the DATA folder are the meshes and textures folders and within each of those is a folder named "Hair Style". Then it's just all of the .egm .nif and .dds files for the hair styles. I guess another question I have too is, does that Data folder need to be merged with the Oblivion data folder? because I was under the assumption that no matter where the egm nif and dds files are, as long as I set them up correctly in CS, I figure they could be sitting anywhere on my drive. Am I wrong? EDIT: Apparently I am wrong, I merged the folder with Oblivions and now the hair styles are working. >_< Edited February 3, 2011 by Deathmore10
Kjkirimi
Yes, very wrong. They need to be in the Oblivion/Data folder or it won't work. At all.

I really should have known that since I have done this before, but it's been enough years that I guess I forgot about that minor detail. hehe ^_^' Sorry about that.
