chimeric929 Posted December 27, 2010 Share Posted December 27, 2010 getting killed by store owners for taking a bottle? then walking out to be killed by a farmer holding a smoking plasma rifle? by changing the way crime works and offering a new system dealing with rep. by adding a perk or two and a couple regulators in towns. add a regulator/guard/police faction that is on good terms with all except raiders and put them into towns and about 1.5-4.5 in a store (.5 being a turret/guard dog depending on the economy) make thievery instead of a crime just damage reputation. make it so a text bubble pops up and asks if you want to steal, then add a hidden item, crime cubes and town crime cubes ie [goodsprings]crimecube, that gives you negative rep with the guard faction and negative effects to barter and speech [-8] for each 50 caps worth of stuff you take while in said town. if you get 10 crime cubes and the town will like you less and after twenty the regulators will open fire on you to get the contract. after 32 crime cubes a mercenary hit squad composed of anything from high DT mercenaries armed with AP weapons to raider gangs who will persue you for the bounty on your head. To remove the crime cubes you could go to a person in the town and pay off the crime cubes at an inflated price. also there could be a small settlement for just that sort of thing wherein guards that belong to their own faction so they cant attack you and could therin pay to have your own bounty removed. also if you successfully ho unseen/pass a sneak speech challenge for the item you wouldn't net any crime cubes, but only for one item. this could be upgraded by a perk [pilfer] that allows you to do this more.
