I got the New Vegas geck to read the meshes and animations of the swamp folks but for some reason it can't read the textures. both texture and mesh folder has same (swampfolk) folder name in it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? has anyone tried this before? Any help would be appreciated.

are the swamp folk a part of New Vegas?? are their resources found inside the New Vegas folders??

if not, then you can't ask for them to be ported, as it's illegal, and you will get banned from this site

so please don't request such a thing, no good will come out of it

I'm not requesting (asking for them to be ported) I'm asking for help on what I'm doing wrong. I've seen lots of post on here asking questions on how to port over fallout 3 mods to New Vegas. It's nothing new and again I'm not requesting, I'm in need of help sorry if I sounded like I was asking for a request to port over a file.

you need to understand a difference between porting a mod and porting copyrighted DLC contents

there is a huge difference, because you can port a mod, but you just can't port anything copyrighted, such as stuff from the game, or from the DLCs

i would recommend you to look at how the creatures are made in the FO3 GECK, and try to replicate the same on the New Vegas GECK, if you want this to work

can't say more, and quite frankly, i don't want to say anything more, and i don't want to get myself banned for this

however, i guess i can try and see what the problem is, and what needs to be done (not making promises though)

thanks for your quick response, My problem is I can't get the New Vegas Geck to read the textures of the Swampfolk Foldersz? I can get it to read the .nif files i.e skeleton and animations but for some reason the texture won't show up when I click on preview to view the swampfolk character it has no texture on it. But I can see the animations.

oh, this part i think i know how to solve

you need to open the nif file with NifSkope, and set it to use the correct textures (you need to set the correct path for it)

the problem is, i have no idea how to do this

but at least now you know what you need to do (i should mention that i'm not 100% sure that this is the problem, but i am almost sure it is)

thanks I'll try that, but if you think this question can get me banned please tell me and also how do I delete a post?

i have really no idea how to delete the post, nor if it could get you banned

i'm sure that no matter what happens, if you explain to a moderator that you just didn't know if this was allowed or not (at least i know that i didn't see anything about such a question written in the ToS or such), you will not get banned

besides, if you edit the post or remove it, it will only seem like you are guilty of something, which you don't want to be

so just let the moderators to their job, and you can always contact them, even if you are banned, and explain what happened, and request to be un-banned

so don't worry

It is against the Nexus policy to allow any direct port from one game into another game to be Uploaded here, or to post a link where it can be uploaded or to post that you will share it on request.

What you do on your own computer is up to you, Just remember that we might be held liable for any copyright infringement you upload here.

The exception is if the game maker has already approved the use of their resources in this way. Bethesda has not, and has specifically forbidden this practice in the past. Many of the resources from Fallout3 and even from the Fallout3 DLCs are already included in the New Vegas game. These are automatically allowed.

I constantly hear "But I own both games why can't I do this?" It's because not everyone that downloads your mod will own both, or that they will own the DLC.

You do not 'own' the game, you own a copy of the game. You do not 'own' the right to distribute the game. However, Bethsoft has generously given you the right to distribute mods based on their game - as long as you do not sell them. With the understanding that you will respect their rights to distribute the game itself.
