ReaveyXae
HI! :) This is my first post here and I'd like to introduce myself first..My friends call me Reavey, and I like Fallout 3! Enough said! :D No fancy/epic intro or something.. First of all, great website! ;) Prepare for a looong post.. Title: My story with Fallout 3 The reason that I made this topic is to get some help (or guidance).I really enjoy this game, but after I played for a while, I felt that something was missing or it's not quite right (IMO and taste).. so I searched the net for mods that would make my game just right for me. So far so good! I found this site and it seems that it's the best for mods (for FO3), but then... CONFUSED! So many mods and stuff (many of them doing the same thing, so I don't know which one is the best), that I didn't quite find what I'm looking for, but I know it's here somewhere.. So, can you point me in the right direction? :) I'll start by specifying what I want from my game. 1) I'd like to level up more than 30 (say.. 100? or infinite?)(and to still be able to chose perks and skill points beyond lvl 30).I searched the FO3 Nexus and I've found more than one.. but, which one?And speaking of leveling, slower leveling would be good.. 2) I don't like how everything disintegrates/explodes in pieces of limbs/pulverizes/turns into goo (or ash)/heads flying/etc as I shoot it with a.. pistol?! o_O (it's ok with a rocket launcher or grenade or something more powerful (like a shotgun), but WITH A PUNY PISTOL?!)And speaking of weapons.. I'd like a sniping rifle.. a REAL one that is, one that can kill from a mile in one shot with VATS! :D 3) Special itemsI want to find them in the wasteland or to buy them. 4) Item Degradation and RepairSlower degradation and higher repair skill for my character. Also, I've seen mods that add parts to repair with, but I don't know which one to use.. 5) Better accuracy. Take this for an example: enemy at 50 meters - hunting rifle - VATS - miss - FAIL! I then have to run practically in the face of the enemy to get a good hit. Yes, I know, it's cheating, but I like to think that my character has a real talent killing from a safe distance. Hmm.. I don't know how to say this.. Now don't get me wrong, I don't want 100% accuracy (hitting a coin from 1 mile). I just want scoped weapons and things like the rifle to hit better (I want a headshot from 100 meters or so.. (this implies accuracy + hit chance in VATS?) It would be better if I could modify this by myself to test different settings, but I don't know how.. :( 6) Immersion/Gameplay changes (like time passing speed and weather/feel of the game (like this: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2672 ) & light.I'll search for this myself, I just want a recommendation (so that I know where to start) 7) New content that doesn't affect the vanilla style of gameplay (to be optional and to blend in the vanilla game (ex: new objects/weapons that can be found in the wasteland without replacing any of the vanilla ones)Like 6, I'll search for this myself, I just want a recommendation (so that I know where to start) And finally.. 8. I don't want any mods that drastically change the game, I want them to be as close as possible to vanilla (like this one: http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=827 ). The rest of the game is perfect for me! ^_^ But, maybe.. it could be better? Any other things/mods recommended (for an easy player like me? (yea yea, I play on easy! so what? :) I just like the story/exploring/mystery/atmosphere/open-world/sandbox/freeroam/overall feeling of the game (I dreamed for a game that's focused on exploring and things to do, that's why Fallout 3 is my favorite) without the worry to save every 5 mins because who knows what will kill me in the next minute) And speaking of exploration games (it's a little OT but I hope you don't mind since I don't want to make a new post just for this)).. any other games like Fallout 3 that you would kindly recommend? (like I said, I love exploring/huge open-world games) ^^ Wow! Long post! Thanks fo reading this far.. Your eyes are bleeding? No? MOAR!! :D Here's what I have in mind: BAD: A new day in Fallout 3. As I (my character) wake up in the morning, I take five steps out of my hideout when a super-mutant attacks (100 meters away)! In a blink of an eye I enter VATS with a hunting rifle and BANG, I miss, BANG, I miss again, BANG, and again, I miss. He's close! I run towards him and when I'm at 3 meters from him, I enter VATS again, BANG! Headshot! His head flies 10 meters or disintegrates. >_> I search his body for that hunting rifle he was carrying, I take it and I repair it with my other rifle only to see that the condition is at 17% (after 3 in-game days, if I won't repair the rifle, it will be at 5%).I continue my journey as I find myself stuck at the final level with no more new perks or skill points. As I wander more into the wasteland, I see things that I can't have (and I don't want to kill an NPC just for that) or can't access (like terminals and locked things) because of my skill (I don't want to miss story bits!), and even with the skill, I forget about those terminals that I couldn't access before I had the skills.Oh, and my brand new power armor or other rare things? I want them to be in tip-top condition, without having a pile of them at my house in Megaton just for repairs. GOOD: A new day in Fallout 3. As I (my character) wake up in the morning, I see the blue sky and a beautiful sunrise, hearing and seeing the wind flowing. As I walk out of my hideout, a super-mutant attacks (100 meters away)! I enter VATS with my trusty hunting rifle and BOOM! Headshot! He dies instantly and with no guts spread all around. I search his body for things that I might need (I don't need that hunting rifle he was carrying because mine is at 80% condition and it will be at just 78% in the next 3 days).I continue my journey way beyond level 30 with new perks and skill points every time I level up, going to perfection. As I wander more into the wasteland, I find a locked terminal that might hold some info about what happened in that place. My brand new rare hard-to-find power armor (or any other rare thing) is a REAL POWER armor. And one important thing: In case I want my game just the way it was before, I should be able to uninstall any mod without corrupting my game/savegame and with no traces. Who knows, maybe I like it better with that green "old" atmosphere.. Okay, that's it! I'm glad you're still here! ^_^ So, could you please guide me on the right path? :) PS: I don't expect a mod for everything I want! I'll appreciate if any of the things in this list will be in my game..One final note: I have the Game of the Year Edition! Thank you again for your time and consideration of this post! ;)
jimmer411
That was too much to read but I did glance over some of the stuff at the top. I try to avoid the massive overhauls (FWE, FOOK2 etc) and stick with things that fill in the blanks. I also avoid anything that adds ammo weight or reduces run speed. My bare essentials are: 1. Marts Mutant mod - Largely the reason I have yet to play more than 4 hours of New Vegas. 2. Repair rethought reborn updated - 3. Slower degradation - I too like my weapons to last a little bit longer 4. CASM - Makes the random crashes less of a worry. 5. Ultimate Perk Pack - Because I love perks 6. Owned! - Kill someone, own their home. 7. EVE - Makes energy weapons useful 8. Weapon mod kits 9. Ammo box respawn - combine this with a zone respawn mod and you have endless exploration 10. Treasure maps - There are a number of treasure map mods that give you yet another reason to explore areas again 11. Headshot deluxe (I think thats the name, its the highest downloaded no autoaim mod on the nexus) 12. Better caravans and companions I would post links but nexus is popping up MySql errors like crazy on me.
