DynasuarezWrecks
I am trying to place a modded hairstyle onto a NPC but am having very little success. I frankly have no idea why I cannot accomplish this, so I will describe what I have done. Hopefully, someone can identify what I am doing wrong. I opened the GECK and loaded FalloutNV and its addons. I clicked "Character" in the main menu, then "Hair...". I right clicked in the hairs list and clicked "New". I assigned an editor ID, a name, made it playable and available to both genders, and directed the art and texture files to my .nif and .dds. To test my new hair, I then opened up Sunny Smiles from the Object Window. I navigated to the Head Parts tab and clicked the Hair drop down. My hair style did not appear in that list. At that point, I just saved the plugin as testnpc.esp. From there, I tried a few different things. I will explain them in the order I tried them. First, I simply pointed one of the vanilla hairs to my .nif and .dds. The new hair mesh and texture appear, but that's obviously not what I wanted to do. Second, I downloaded a hair pack from the Nexus (specifically, AsharaHairConversionNV) just to see if I can learn anything by inspecting it. As far as I can tell, its hairstyles are apparently added the same way mine are (in Character > Hair...). I realized that whenever I had AsharaHairConversion.esp as the active plugin, its hairstyles appeared in the drop down under the Head Parts tab, but when it wasn't the active plugin, the hair styles did not. Third, I used FNVedit to make AsharaHairConversionsNV a master for testnpc.esp. I opened testnpc.esp in the GECK as the active. AsharaHairConversionsNV obviously loaded too since it's a master for my plugin. All of the custom hairs appear in the Character > Hair... menu, but none of them appear in the Head Parts tab for NPCs. Fourth, I used FNVedit to flag testnpc.esp as a master itself. Still, the hair style appears in the Hairs... list but does not appear in the Head Parts tab. I find all of this strange because AsharaHairConversionsNV displayed its hairs while editing NPCs but my plugin will not. Furthermore, companion mods like Willow, for instance, have their own custom hairs too, and they work, but mine won't. Enlightenment would be tremendously appreciated. llamaRCA
Did you add the new hair to the NPCs race? The items you see when you are the NPC record are there because they are available for the race the NPC uses. To add the hair to the correct race open up both the hair window and the race window and then drag the hair into the hair window on the race form. DynasuarezWrecks
No. I had no idea I had to do that. I followed your instructions, and it worked. You're awesome. Thank you.
