It really only affects gameplay if you play as the beast races (Kaijiit-night eye, Argonian-water breathing). First, different races have different badass powers and abilities, second, the dunmer will always be kinda distrusting to anyone, even if you are dunmer yourself since you were born outside Morrowind. Third, the beast races are really not very high rate choice, because they can't wear helmets or boots.
