Floating heads

Hello (again). I recently decided to install Oblivion yet again and to make it playable I also had to download some mods. I haven't added many mods yet, but I've already managed to screw a part of the game graphics - some female bodies. When starting a game with new character there comes the emperor with few guards, one of which is female. The female is currently just a floating head, as the only parts visible are the head and weapon hanging on her back (I can see it because the body is invisible). Same problem occurs on some other female characters as well, I've spotted some heads in the Imperial City. Help would be appreciated.

Here is my current list of mods copied from the Oblivion Mod Manager. I'm still missing many important pieces that enhance the environment, faces and other such things, but I have already encountered a problem described above. I also did few tweaks on my .ini -file (adjusted some shadows and grass to make the game run smoothier) but I don't think they have anything to do with this; I made a back-up file before tweaking and whether I use the tweaked one or the non-tweaked one, I see floating heads.

Thanks in advance

edit: Also, are the xp bar and the amounts of xp gained on Oblivion XP supposed to be visible? I just realised that I can't see them either.

the floating heads that you have mentioned, i think that they are caused by missing body meshes

the thing is, i don't see any body mod in your load order, so i can't think of what could do this

have you installed any female body replacer??

as for Oblivion XP, you are supposed to see the xp bar, just below your 3 normal bars (health, magicka and fatigue)

but maybe you can't see the bar because of the HUD mod that you have

you might need a compatibility patch, but i'm not sure, as i don't use any HUD mod

I see. I used to have a female and a male body replacer mod but I ended up clearing all mods and uninstalling Oblivion to open up some space on my comp. I don't think there should be any textures missing after reinstalling the game, but I try to download and install a new body replacer and see if that fixes the problem. I will edit this post for the results.

As for Oblivion XP: there is no xp bar located anywhere in my screen. The HUD bar appears above mana, hp and fatigue bars. There are also 2 smaller bars located above the spell and the weapon which come from the same mod also.

http://img209.imageshack.us/i/screenshot0p.png/ Here is a screenshot I took; female Khajit body is visible unlike the female guard body, who is standing beetween the emperor and other guard. There is also no xp bar, but when I started the game I saw message ''Oblivion XP enabled''. Where can I find these compatibility patches?

Edit: I installed and EyeCandy bodyreplacer (the one with underwear) and the guard is still only a head. I also noticed that deadly reflex changes some textures. Could it be messing up the bodies?

i don't know where you can get compatibility patches

however, i think that when you install Oblivion XP version 4.1.8, if you use the OMOD installation, it gives you the option of using compatibility patches that come with the mod

again, i'm not sure, as i installed it a few days ago, but already forgot, but i think it's true, and it's worth a shop anyhow

I had an outdated version of Oblivion XP, v 4.1.5 I think. I installed v4.1.8 and the xp bar is now exactly where you said it should be. Thank you. I still can't see the female guards (and some other females) body and I surely can't figure out why is that. Deadly reflex only changes feets and hands (I think), so I guess it can't cause the problem.

I recalled that I have also added NiFSE and Oblivion Graphics Extender (V2) (as requested in the deadly reflex 6 as well) and I'm not sure if they can be seen on that list I posted earlier. I don't think they change any textures, but could they cause this?

Missing Textures |

Scroll down to the Pink or Missing Textures Section.

You likely need Archive Invalidation.

TESIV:POSItive -- Excellent resource site loaded with information for the beginner to advanced user.

You also need to fix your Load Order. It's all out of whack. Use Better Oblivion Sorting Software - BOSS, it will handle your Load Order for you.

You need to remove DRSplatter.esp from your LO. It will cause a crash on save 100% of the time after you perform a critical hit that results in blood on screen. You need to realize Deadly Reflex 6 is in BETA and has issues. Read the Official Deadly Reflex 6 BETA and Release Thread for more information. BETA's should only be used by more experienced modders/mod user's that can deal with issues and help resolve them. Otherwise you're in for nothing but a headache. If you're not interested in dealing with, and reporting, bugs and other various problems that BETA's present, and you just want to play the game, you need to revert to Deadly Reflex v5.

I switched to deadly reflex 5. I tried the archive invalidation with mod manager several times: first I tried BSA redirection but nothing changed, then I tried BSA alteration with the same result. I tried them both couple of times but the bodyless heads remain in my screen. Strange thing is that my character is always visible no matter what race I pick.

edit: Could complete re-installing (again) fix the problem? It wouldn't bee too much work because I still have the mods in folder...

Edit: Thanks for you efforts, after clearing all my oblivion related folder and re-installing it all again the game is working.

Edit2: Second time launching the game. Everyone who is not male guard is bodyless again. What the heck?

I tried to remove everything that has something to do with armor/NPC textures, this is the result:

Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm

Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp

Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp

Living Economy.esp

Living Economy - Items.esp

Cutthroat Merchants.esp

Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp

OMOBS.esp

Short Grass V2.esp

tag_NaturalWildlife.esp

Spell Ranks.esp

No psychic guards v1.2.esp

Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.esp

DeadlyReflex 5 - Combat Moves.esp

Oblivion XP.esp

Visually Enchanted Fire 3.esp

Visually Enchanted Frost 3.esp

Visually Enchanted Shock 2.esp

retroactive health.esp

I also found out that the problem only appears when characters are wearing armor (I can see people who wear clothes like robes or are naked) eg. if I kill someone and loot his body, the body turns visible after taking the armor. I also spotted few yellow trangles all over the game world. Is there any possibility to download the missing textures and put them back in my game folders?

can you wear the armor, and see it??

the same one that turns NPCs invisible, see if you can see it on you

now, this may come from OOO, or it may be changed by it

try finding it in the CS, and see if you have the files in the right place

because you could have installed a mod, but not correctly, and the folders aren't where they should be

if you can't identify the problem, why not re-install the game, then install the mods one by one, and check which is causing the problem??

it would take a long time, i know, but it will make sure you find the problem
