Problem with Advanced Tactics

Hello everybody,

i've recently started to install and use many mods, and of course i run into some incompatibilities.

Now that i care of what i put, i notice a few things left that i can't solve alone, it seems...

Context : i'm running

AllCanLearn v3.4, Allow Permanent Summons, Angel console fix fonts, difficulty.xls (i modified it) and ABI_Base.xls from SimpleDifficultyIncrease, exptable.gda and exptable_gxa.gda modified to get 50 tactic slots, Propertiesnocap.GDA to have no properties limit (actually capped at +1000%), The Winter Forge, Steal cooldown 1.5s, Advanced Tactics, Advanced Quickbars, Character Respec Addon v1.6, Special Respecialisation, Quartermaster Tolby, Teleport, Spell Shaping, Slink's s3 RAVage, Lancerlot - Party Command: Unlock, Healer Receiving Fix, Orgolove's Rapid Daggers Mod (x3).

And i got The Edge, Embri's Many Pockets, Helm of the Deep, The Lucky Stone, The Lion's Paw, Mark of Vigilance, Amulet of the War Mage, The Wicked Oath, The Stone Prisoner.

My team (in case it can help understanding what i'm trying to do and where is the problem) :

Sten tank-healer (Mace&shield, many heals; is Champion and Healer), Morrigan magic only (Blood Mage) (aoe and 1v1), Zevran dpser (Assassin and Templar) with 2 swords, me dpser (base: Thief, Berserker + Duellist) with teleport, daggers, stun&paralysis effects, amazing stats (that's why i needed serious difficulty increase; with Slink's s3 RAVage + The Winter Forge, i created items using gold and ressources you could not even dream about).

I would like to achieve an almost perfect Sten+Morrigan+Zevran managing without touching them nor pausing the game (excepting for mass AOE), having Zevran playing dead when low HP then waking up once healed - at the moment he will stay forever on the floor, until i manually make him stand up... tactics, you know.

What's happening : once Advanced Tactics installed, new tactics set, the game will never take in account the "if self: mode: exploration" or "if self: mode: combat", nor the "jump to tactic X", not even "if hit by a close-combat enemy"... maybe more aren't even working.

It leads to some infinite loops like Sten perma-activating and de-activating a shield sustained ability, Morrigan doing the same with ice weapons... I gotta stop the tactic and de-activate or activate those abilities manually, it ruins the tactics purpose. Some other tactics are not working at all, like Zevran and his playing dead (he won't deactivate it)...

And, what's way worse, my comp' now experiences serious lags. I wonder if it's because i'm in Dead place in Dwarves mines, with tons of Darkspawns (and even more tons of thanks to Slink's s3 RAVage put to max difficulty) and dwarves waiting & fighting there at the bridge, or if some mods are conflicting.

I had more mods installed before, but to check where the problem was coming from, i uninstalled some. Before uninstalling those, i had incredible endless lags; now it's just serious lags "by moments", not all the time... Still not normal though. Had no lags at all before, with just "allspellcanlearn".

I'm using Dragon Age patch 1.03; i read those forums and have seen you guys recommend 1.04, but in another french forum i see 1.04 cause some problems , + not always good with Advanced Tactics... so i downloaded the patch but waiting for your opinions before installing.

I tried to contact anakin55 about his Advanced Tactics mod, to see if he had any knowledge about his mod not working under certain conditions... Couldn't talk with him for the moment.

I hope some of you will have advices or even solutions about that. Those tactics really are inspiring, i'd like much to use them.

Thank you by advance!

edit: should i add i am running Dragon Age: Origins, and not Awakening...

edit : i've installed 1.04. Less lags, still same tactics problems... :-(

Do you have game patch 1.04 installed?

Although I fully recommend it for all the other things it fixes, there was a (confirmed unintentional) roll-back of the AI script file ("script.ldf") to the version from patch 1.02. You may be trying to call one of AT's actions that "isn't there" any more.

(And of course you MUST have 1.04 to play GoA or WH. :laugh: )

Hello,

thanks for your answer.

As mentioned in my first post, yes, i've installed 1.04. However, i cannot find any file "script.ldf", in any place. I've found a "scripts.erf" in [...]\Dragon Age\packages\core\data.

I saved the "scripts.erf" from my previous 1.03 version, but not tested yet.

Where could i get the "scripts.ldf" and where to put it once i've retrieved one, please? I hope that's the very nature of the problem...

When i got the courage back, i'll test all mods desactivated but Advanced Tactics.

(on a side note: what are GoA and WH ? I guess you're not talking about an Indian town, nor a "WallHack" ... :D )

GoA = "Golems of Amgarrack"

WH = "Witch Hunt"

What "courage"? Just copy-paste your "player override" folder somewhere else, then make a new one, put AT in it as the only mod, and "Test Away..."

And "scripts.ldf" has to be extracted from "patch002.erf" (which is the internal file name for game patch 1.03.) Won't/can't post it here (copyrighted game asset) and it's not a mod, so it doesn't go in the "player override" folder.

But honestly, not worth the hassle. Just learn what AT commands won't fire, and don't use them. :laugh:

I always encounter lag when using any tactic mods. So I normally avoid using them.

The Edge, Embri's Many Pockets, Helm of the Deep, The Lucky Stone, The Lion's Paw, Mark of Vigilance, Amulet of the War Mage, The Wicked Oath, The Stone Prisoner. and The Winter Forge shouldn't be causing any problem. I'm not familar with other mods tho.

Anyway, judging from comments posted at Advance Tactic thread, I can see it's still buggy. The author anakin55 has release builder-to-builder source. If you know scripting, you can load dadbdata file into your toolset to manually edit it.
