Weapon Parameter Editing Question

I've DLed the FNV GECK, got it installed correctly, it opens fine, and I can see the master file .esms and the various mod .esp files I'm using.

The only thing I want to do is edit some of the weapon parameters i.e. mag capacity, damage values (DM & DPS) in one or two of the weapon mods I'm using (for my own use only....changes I make WILL NOT be made available to anyone else!). When I try to load/open the weapon .esp I want to edit, the GECK insists on opening the FNV.esm instead. I've read the first few steps of the GECK tutorial posted at Bethesda....................it's all orientated towards creating my own mod from scratch, which IS NOT what I want to do.

So......................what steps are necessry for me to open the weapon.esm I want to edit and save? TY!

BTW: If the weapon parameters I want to edit are not located in the weapon.esp please feel free to enlighten my ignorant elbow, as their location in the .esp is an assumption on my part. Thanks again.

THe ESM file will always be loaded because its set as a master file for that ESP in all likely just change the weapons added by the ESP ect. ( usualy new stuff added or changed will show with a * next to it)

Basically, when you open an esp, you have to open it's related esm, or "master", that's where you get all the info about the rest of the game from. When you modify a weapons stats, it marks it as changed. When you are done, it will say if you want to save your changes as a plugin. You say yes, name it as you want, then activate it after the weapon mod it is affecting in your load order.

Thanks for the replies..........................they helped.

I see the FNV.esm has to open first, even though I've selected the weapon.esp as the file I want to edit. The .esm has opened successfully, and the selected weapon.esp is now shown with all the other in game objects/weapons. The mag size is pretty obvious (listed as clip in the GECK).......................which parameter is the power (or damage) factor? I'm guessing it's "base"..................but am not sure; do any of you know? TY!

Thanks, Bro. I got it......................right after my last post; I noticed the parameter cells (i.e. clip, Critical Damage, etc) were expandable, so you can see the full title of each parameter. Anyway......................there are two that affect damage; "Attack Damage" and "Critical Damage". I've adjusted both; saved like you guys said, and it works fine (always a big plus after messing with stuff you don't really understand!)..............

Thanks again for the help! Gotta go abuse the GECK credit card now! w00t!!
