Hi. Just got the game from my wife

It's on a DVD, but instead of just installing, it will have a Steam account and then continues to DOWNLOAD the game at a very slow rate. Is this normal. And why can't I just install from the disk?

It should take the main files from the disk but it will also update it to the latest version, last major patch was around 250mb I believe maybe thats what it is doing? check on the download and see what it says for how much remaining if it is in the gigabyte range then something is defo screwed up.

For some incomprehensible reason, Bethesda made their DVD to where it actually has all of the files needed, but still tries to download them from steam instead of using the DVD.

OK, I found a solution on the Steam support page - Where would we be without all you smart (and helpful) people out there

Installed the game, updated on Steam and it runs like a dream. And the geckos are back  Kind of missed those little bastards in FO3.

With only 1½ hours of playing, it seems as if the game has reverted to the "Feel" (if you can say that) of FO 1 and 2. Just better looking :) Personally I like that.
