Getting armor/weapons to equip on custom NPC

You could also try creating a version of the armor just for your npc. In the GECK click on the Vagrant armor and change it's id to something pertaining to your character.(make sure your character's esp is the active file) then add it to their inventory. I think that should work.

the matter of fact, i believe this way WILL work properly

since the esp of the Vagrant armor isn't a master, and it won't become one, you should be able to do this

haven't tested this idea before, but it may just work (worth a try anyhow)
