xmetalxthrasherx
Hi, I'm developing a mod to add content to places where the developers left untouched. I've been using the GECK currently to flatten out some of the absurdly hilly terrain on a mountain top. You can see by the screen shots below that if I lower the terrain past a certain point you can become able to see the LOD terrain through it. Is there a way to specifically generate the LOD for the terrain only in one cell? Or otherwise, is there a way to prevent this ground from showing through. It's very irritating. http://johnlouderback.com/files/ScreenShot9.jpghttp://johnlouderback.com/files/ScreenShot10.jpghttp://johnlouderback.com/files/ScreenShot11.jpg

davidlallen
This is a common intermediate modder question, which I also asked a couple of weeks ago ("melty bits sticking through my landscape"). There is no way to avoid this. Unless you have a supercomputer and weeks of CPU time, you cannot change or regenerate the LOD map. I have worked around this by moving my terrain *up* instead of down. This is still a problem when viewed from a distance but it is less obvious. Several people have suggested using a separate worldspace instead of modding the NV wasteland itself. This is why so many mods contain only one mysterious hatch/door and then everything takes place in an interior.
Deleted1744345User
I would definitely go with creating a new worldspace. As long as it isn't very big, LOD should be quick to generate.
xmetalxthrasherx
I would definitely go with creating a new worldspace. As long as it isn't very big, LOD should be quick to generate. Thanks everyone for the replies. I was hoping that I would just have to raise the land, that was my fix for other areas but I was getting sick of it, so I though I'd try to address the problem now.I personally think it's bull**** that the developers would not allow you to create lod for one area or otherwise somehow address this sorta of big issue. Perhaps, though, it's an issue they can't resolve. Anyway, thanks again guys, unfortunately I can't use an a seperate world space, the point of my mod is to add content to areas in the game that had none. Such as the mountain tops. EDIT: Quick question, why does LOD even show up when I'm that close to the terrain. Shouldn't the LOD terrain only be visible from far away. Seems sorta dumb that they have that cell of it visible even when I'm standing in it. Edited December 30, 2010 by xmetalxthrasherx
