TrooperScooperMKII
I am concerned about the implications of forum posts stipulating the legality or illegality of portng files from Fo3, or porting files/mods in general, so I want to clarify a few grey areas. I got the impression that this is a sensitive topic, but I really want to be certain if I understand the rules properly. I am assuming:1. that it is illegal to upload any NV mod with Fallout 3 files without explicit permission from Bethesda,2. I am not allowed to port any custom content created by anyone without their explicit permission,3. I am not allowed to upload any mods with files from other games without the permission of the original company/author.Now, if I wanted permission to use a handful of very specific files from Fallout 3 in a mod I want to upload, I would have to email Bethesda and get approval. I am also assuming that I would have to work solo on any mod that would use these files, due to the apparent blanket ban on uploading even a single file from another game. Is this all correct?EDIT: I just thought of something: if I were to use the cells from FO3 in the GECK on my PC, then upload just the level itself WITHOUT any FO3 items, then tell the mod users to use the BSA archive tool thing to unpack their copy of FO3 to the data files, I could transmit a mod that uses FO3 content without uploading the files themselves. The GECK only references the meshes, textures, etc.- without a copy of FO3 and whatever other software that I used in my mod, the mod wouldn't work.
