willjk57
oh right, she had ranger ability and could summon a helper. Still to me the greatest "crime" the game had was a lack of a difficulty setting, I played the demo many times before I got the full and it was fairly easy and enjoyable, but getting to Ferdok and beyond, things really get difficult. Maybe the game would have been more popular for the casual rpg,( like me) who prefer the story over micromanaging your companions to the 'nth degree constantly as your own. I guess they were catering too much to their hardcore fans as to a more general audience I don't know. Oh and that nightmare at the mountaintop with Malgorra, lizardmen, cultists, golems, oh I don't even want to think about that...I actually managed to win once with my character remaining just an ounce of life left and all companions down, not happy memories! MagdalenaDwojniak
The bear is capable of some nice thrashing :D. Still, nothing beats an UNupgraded skeleton: I am not sure whether you can only upgrade the spell to level 11 or 12, anyway, there is some magical threshold where the tanking two-handed warrior with one of the best regular armours is replaced by a waifish caster with a rapier. That summon is not only weak, but often switches from magic to melee and then gets killed quickly. The djinni was also alright. I did not get to use the fire elemental too often, a well-aimed Ignisphaero and some Lightning Strike would do the thing :P. Too bad elves had so limited magic. Metamages are the nicest main characters if you ask me. It becomes even more important in TROT, where many spells cannot be learnt. Anyway, I must say the PC should be a mage. There are various builds for rogues and warriors, but mages are quite limited. For Malgorra, you need to take all casters you can get. Jost is a must. I defeated her with Jost, Nasreddin and one of the following three (my memory is a bit cloudy here): Gwendala, Rhulana or Forgrimm. Mind you, my characters were either pickpocketers or metamages (I love metamages in this series!).
willjk57
Are there any games in the Dark Eye since those first 3? Demonicon is a Steam game and that will not work for me. Not work for me meaning Steam isn't getting on my PC. I've played the first Risen and it's enjoyable if one likes tons of lizards. And I've played The First Templar but it's just a console game and I don't really care for it's religious angle.

I do not have them, so I cannot voice my opinions, but they are set in Aventuria. This year, the second game of Blackguards came out. It looks good. willjk57
There's a little mod for DSA called Eye of the Goddess, allows you to return to Throne room in Muralosh for congratulations after slaying Malgorra and on back to Ferdok and to your house. That's cool, like for River of Time, yet I think the bugs are all not worked out in this. I miss you MagdalenaDwojniak on Nexus.
