kjrain12
Hey guys, I'm new to the whole modding thing, and I'm trying to get the PDA in the game instead of the pipboy. I got it from this link and followed all the instructions. http://fallout3.filefront.com/file/PipBoy_PDA;105811 I got the FOMM and the script thingy and the 1.7 patch and installed them both but yet when I pull up the FOMM, it doesn't read that the PDA is there. I put the PDA folder in the data folder of FO3 but it still won't work. I toggled the ArchiveInvalidation and I opened the .ini file and made the InvalidateOlderFiles=1 and it still wont work. Please Help! My OS is Windows 7 if that helps. (I just noticed in my data folder there is a file called "ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!" I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it)
WastelandAssassin
are you sure you put the files in the right place?? when you open the archive you download, do you get a fomod file, or a folder??if it's a fomod file, then just double click on it, and FOMM will install it (just follow the instructions it gives, or read about fomod installation) if it is a folder, you need to make sure that you put the files in the right placeall of the folder should go into your Fallout 3 data folderthe esp should be in the data folder, the meshes merged with the meshes folder, and so on for all the folders it has make sure you install this properly, and you should be able to check the plugin in FOMM, and see if it works in game for you

I've tried double clicking on it and it says."unable to get write permission from Fallout's installation directory." I've heard this happens on Windows 7 and Vista if you have FO3 installed in the program files, but I have it in the regular documents and it still says this. I don't know what you mean with the "meshes merged with the meshes folder" because all I have in my folder is the fomod file. So any other suggestions? I'm desperate here... kjrain12
Never mind, I got it! I had to open up FOMM and I realized that when I tried to open up the FOMOD file it made a copy of it in the "mods" folder of FOMM. All I had to do was go to the FOMM Package manager and activate it. Also, it seems I have to launch my game from the FOMM using the "Launch FOSE" button for the PDA to work. That's how it should be right?

That's how it should be right? yes, this is exactly how it should be what you have done is installed the mod as a fomod, which is a great way to go, especially for mods you might want to remove, as it's the easiest system for controlling modsso you've learned about one system as for installing mods that aren't fomods, you should really see how that workswhen you have a folder that's named something, and you have another folder in the same place, with the same name, you can merge the two folders, so the items from both folders will be in one unified folderthis is what you need to do, when adding a mod that comes as folders, and not a fomodthis is what i meant, when i said to merge the foldersit's very easy, just read what you are doing, and what the computer tells you
