Zenez
I installed a run of really nice mods, it was only a few hours in I realised I couldn't visit Tamriel cells. Not from coc innillomen then out the door, not from coc WhitmondFarm then out the door, nor from any of the city doors. I should point out that all areas inside cities are fine and that this holds true with every mod ep and esm deactivated.Latest patches and everything.I really don't want to do a re-install.Would patching to SI solve this? It'l be a while untill I answer, going somewhere IRL.
Zenez
Cleared all the misc. documentation and removed pluggy hud and other OBSE plugins, problems still persisted on a fresh game. The crash occurs after load, the game shows black and plays ambient sounds, then crashes in about 1 second. Zenez
Right, I traced the problem. Dog and horse skeletons seem to be corrupt, since I can't access Gendathrel's house, and that is the error given in the constructon set when I try to load it. They appear as huge exclamation marks. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement skeleton? Edited January 2, 2011 by Zenez
Megatarius
The skeletons for those animals are safely stored in the meshes.bsa file. You must have installed "replacer" skeletons that are corrupt. Deactivating everything will not solve the problem because the game is still loading the corrupt skeletons from your Data folder. Remove them, and the game will have no choice but to look in the .bsa file again. "Replacers" don't actually replace anything. The game is programmed to look in your Data folder first, and use whatever it finds there, and only look in the .bsa if there's nothing in the data folder. The vanilla game is simply the result of there being nothing in your data folder, so it uses the .bsa files. If you did not install any replacer animal skeletons, I don't know what the problem is. You could try patching to shivering isles, but I'm not sure that will change anything for this problem.
Zenez
Fixed it by replacing the bsps with those from a fresh install in a virtualbox.
