Amoramor
I've been thinking about buying New Vegas, but I don't know if I should buy it for PC or the 360. The main problem is that I don't have a computer for it. My computer broke just a couple of days ago (for the second time already), and it barely ran Oblivion on medium settings on 30 fps. That means it parobably wouldn't run NV at all. I prefer shooters on consoles, but the game is moddable, so. So, do you think I should wait to get enough money for a new computer, or buy it for Xbox? Also, how expensive do you think a laptop should be to run it properly? Not on maximum settings, but so that it's playable, at 30-50 fps. Graphics aren't that important, as long as it runs. WastelandAssassin
well, i can tell you that before i got a new graphics card, my Oblivion ran on rather low settings, but New Vegas ran on quite good settings, and it ran wellso New Vegas is actually lighter for the computer to run (or so it was in my case)so your computer just might run iti would suggest you to try Can I Run This (it's a site that tells you if your computer is strong enough for a game) now, if you are good with Xbox games, and you don't want to save up for a computer, than you should probably get the Xbox version of the gamethen you will be able to also get Dead Money (though i've heard that people found it disappointing, though it looked really cool to me) personally, i am horrible with Xbox games (or any console games for that matter), but even if i were good at them, after seeing what this community can do, i don't think i'll be able to play the game more than a few times without mods, so i would take the PC version any day of the week (but that's my opinion) not sure how much a computer would cost you, but it probably won't be very cheap (can't say for sure, because i don't know much about computers, and it also depends on where you live and such, as it changes)you may want to do some internet research, and see if you can find the answer yourselfand if you want the required system for New Vegas, the site i mentioned before also writes what you need as a minimum to run the game, and what is recommended to run the gameso you can use this info, and search for a computer (either a PC or a Laptop) that has similar "stats" good luck to you :) Edited January 2, 2011 by WastelandAssassin
Amoramor
Ok, thanks for the useful info. I'll head to that site now. :) E: Ran into a small problem... my own computer is broken, so I can't use that site, since it analyzes the computer you're on. I think I remember my specs, though... maybe. Edited January 2, 2011 by Amoramor

WastelandAssassin
well,, thought it would be best to just write the setting as said by that site, just in case you'll need themnow, i should point out that there are no Recommended Settings, just Minimum Settingand they are: CPU Speed Minimum: Dual Core 2.0 GHz Processor or better RAM Minimum: 2 GB OS Minimum: Windows 7 / Vista / XP Video Card Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce 6 series or better, ATI Radeon X1300 XT series or better Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card Required Video RAM 128 MB Hardware T&L Yes Pixel Shader version 3.0 Vertex Shader version 3.0 Free Disk Space Minimum: 10 GB (this part is only true if you don't want mods ) hope this helps you :)
madman132
If you can put up with some of the more ridiculous copy protection measures out there i'd recommend buying the PC versions of pretty much any game. There are tools to make your game run better and/or prettier for just about any big game and the open world games by bethesda have about a million billion phantastillion mods. For New Vegas, you'll have to put up with steam. New Vegas will not run without steam. Well, steam isn't the most annoying copy protection out there, at least it keeps the game functional, which isn't a given anymore, see "Grand Theft Auto 4", which was a funny story for me since the copy Protection on that game took my bought (went to a website, bought the game with real money) copy of that game out.The copy protection of GTA4 prevented me from playing GTA4. And here comes the Joke: I had to download a tool to circumvent to copy protection (which is the same thing pirates would use to get a illegally obtained version of that game to run) to get my game to work. So the steam thingy you'll have to put up with when buying new vegas is a breeze in comparison. Due to "cheat protection" you may not be able to get some achievements but that is pretty much it. The pc version of new vegas will run on a computer old enough to be as cheap or cheaper then the xbox and will give you the opportunity to download quite a lot of mods which may make the game more fun for your or just fix some of the many bugs. With the console version, you'd have to wait for the developers, good luck with that. So buy the PC Version. It has many mods, many bug fixes (and the game needs that desperately) and the copy protection wont cripple the game too much.
