Jollepoker
Hey thar! I'm making a pretty big dungeon at the moment. I placed all the static obejcts and the lights etc... but then, I came to the sounds... I can't hear the sounds from CS! They just don't start playing after I click on ''play''. I think I heard that you needed a special sound program to hear the sounds, if that's true... my question is: Where do I get the program so I can hear the sounds from the CS? I looked everywhere for the answear, and I couldn't find anything. Neither here on the forums with the search function or on CS Wiki. Thanks in advance. Abramul
It might be necessary to unpack them first.
Jollepoker
Um... How do I unpack Bethesda's sound files then? :P The only thing I saw in Nifscope that I thought could be used in some sort of logical manner was the ''load'' button. But when I pressed I couldn't see any files at all :P
Abramul
That was a link, not an emphasis. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/TES4BSA The documentation (one readme) is adequate for the purpose, but here's what you do: Create a new folder. I put mine (\Unpack) in \Oblvion\Data for convenience.Extract or install (don't remember which) TES4BSA into this folder. I would suggest you go ahead and unpack all of them. It'll take a few gigs, but it's convenient.Copy the .BSA(s) that you want to unpack into the new folder. They should also be in \Oblivion\Data.Open the command prompt, and navigate to this folder.(Note: The current version may allow unpacking of all .BSAs in a directory. If so, feel free to use that instead. In the command prompt, type:tes4bsa unpack "FileFullName"where FileFullName is replaced by the exact name of the .BSA you're unpacking, including file extension.Repeat the previous step for each .BSA you want to unpack.Copy the resulting folders into \Oblivion\Data (or, if it results in a folder named Data, copy that into \Oblivion) Start up the CS. Jollepoker
Hmm, my copy of Tes4bsa seems bugged... and even the one I redownloaded after that seems bugged to. When I start it it pops-up for about 0.3 secs and then down again. Can't do anything with it :/
Abramul
That's what happens when it's run with no input file, which is the default state. Like I said, you need to run it from the Command Prompt. It might work to drage a .BSA onto it, although I've never tried it...To open the Command Prompt, open your Start menu, select Run..., and when the dialogue comes up, type "cmd" and hit Enter. LOL Best way to test the sound is to listen to the unpacked sounds in your bsacmd folder, place them in your dungeon, then load the dungeon in the game and see if you have placed them properly. You can do this right only by trial and error system, at least until you get used with them. I think the CS is bugged, I had the same problem as you... :) By the way, you don't have to run BSA from the command prompt, just make sure you have the latest version, then make a default folder on the Desktop (bsacmd), and you can unpack any bsa file from the Oblivion\Data folder. I recommend making a text file with the bsa contents log, since you cannot search for a specific item in the archive (but you can into the text file, then compare the position in the list, etc.). Good luck in your modding! And expect for a serious bug report when you release it! LOLPain.
