Battle for Redcliffe (the first one)

Don't know if anyone else has had this happen to them, but...

In my current playthrough I somehow manage to defend Redcliffe against the Corpses without a single loss of life, and was given the Helm of the Red as a bonus by Bann Teagan.

However, I lost that progress when I inexplicably exited the game instead of saving. :whistling:

Now I, for the life of me, cannot do it again - it seems that the game engine deliberately makes the battle harder if you go back to the auto-save right at the start of the battle. Most telling - in the first run-through of the battle, the corpses are only just making their way to the lower-level compound when you get there; in reloads there are half-a-dozen corpses already inside the compound hacking away when you get there...

:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

(I just needed to vent... )

It didn't happened to me. What happened to me was that I had to reload the game to activated the flag to allow all the undead to fight me but... they all came at once so it was harder to deal with it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Same thing happened to me but in reverse order,i beat the corpses with a few casualties then forgot to save, loaded and next time beat them without any loss of life,as a result getting the helm.

since then i've been getting the helm in all my playthroughs.

one tip - use two healers in your party.i usually donot play two healers but here that is almost a sure way of assuring no casualties as you can use your healers to heal everyone(even non party members like the militia , templars etc) just monitor the battlefield ,see whose health is dropping and heal them.

of course this basically means that you donot direct your damage dealers, and instead stick to playing with the healers.

Also what difficulty were you on ? i did the above on hard and nightmare, works everytime.

I managed to get through the battle again without loss of life...it just took me a few more times to get there.

I play on Easy...I like starting my combats and letting things move. I don't want to interrupt my battles every few seconds to issue new orders to my party. :-/
