Ingux
Ever since discovering this site I've been installing a great deal of mods for my game, and so far I've been playing my saves without any problems whatsoever. However the other day when I decided to create a new character, Dragon Age started to crash whenever I try to enter character creation, no matter if it's for Origins or Awakening. This is only a problem that's started after I installed some new mods in the past week. So I'm wondering if anyone knows which type of mods may be most likely to affect the relevant gamefiles and cause this issue? I've tried disabling every single non-official mod I could in the DLC menu and that has had no effect. Personally I think the problem may be occuring when it tries to load the introductory movie, all the hair/make-up/colour mods I'd installed had been working fine until recently. For what it's worth, I also tried the dlded demo Character Creater from the Bioware website... which also crashed when I hit the 'create new character' button... I'm running DA:O off Steam, and have recently changed computers, upgrading from a Win 7 32-bit system to a 64-bit system, and had just copied my Steam folder and Documents folder directly... I have no idea what's going on with the game right now, since everything apart from 'start a new game' works perfectly normally. I'd hate having to reinstall the game and/or all my mods. =( Wondering if anyone could help me.
Ingux
Here's one of the error logs from Event Viewer... though I don't know what it would do... @.@ DAOrigins.exe 1.4.12393.0 4c093389 DAOrigins.exe 1.4.12393.0 4c093389 c0000005 0040c614 17ec 01cbad44587feb10 C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\dragon age origins\bin_ship\DAOrigins.exe C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\dragon age origins\bin_ship\DAOrigins.exe b322876c-1937-11e0-8795-70f395f27756
Thandal
a) The most likely reason for the game crashing at the CC stage is missing elements in the chargenmorphcfg.xml file. Another possible reason is that the game is unable to locate an essential model because it's been changed by a mod and now is not recognized. (The "Potion of Transformation" is known to cause this problem if the NV4 mod is uninstalled before using the potion to "change back".) b) Remove the mods you are referring to when you say. "This is only a problem that's started after I installed some new mods in the past week." Make sure things work normally, then add them back until you find the one that causes the crash. (Bet it's one that changes a character's appearance.)
Ingux
Thank you so much! That was the perfect advice to help me figure out what went wrong. x) I looked through the new mods I'd installed and it turned out that the only appearance altering mod I'd installed was the 'Thazulok Face Replacement', and once I removed it everything worked seamlessly. Thank you for the help!

DarkeWolf
Yeah, most likely the replacement faces weren't included in the chargen files. When that happens the CC either will crash when it tries to load, or it will not show those items correctly on the screen or on the character. It sounds like you may have to add the filenames to your chargenmorphcfg.xml file. either manually if the mod didnt include a file or via compiler if it did.if you can add them via compiler here's a tute if you need it. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/285586-more-hairstylesvibrant-colours-clash/page__view__getnewpost
