seraph_mk
I've recently reinstalled oblivion and the most recent versions of the construction set and OBMM, and I'm having a weird issue with modding. Any mods that I download or create that have new content.. things not referenced at all in Oblivion.esm.. work just fine. However, my mods seem unable to modify any of the values of things that are referenced in it. I can move items around in the construction set and the changes will show up, but anything that changes the values of items.. such as changing the lock settings on a chest, or changing the sell value of a clutter item, seem to have no effect. I don't get any error messages or anything, just no matter what I do, when I go into the game, the values of things are the default ones set in Oblivion.esm. I've already tried playing around with the load order in OBMM, to no effect. The only way that I seem to be able to change a value of something is by creating a new ID for an item, deleting the old references, and then manually placing the new ID'd items into all of the places and lists where the old ones were. Essentially creating new content using the old stuff as a base, rather than editing the values of existing stuff like I'm supposed to be able to. This is a HUGE amount of work just to make simple mods run, though. If anyone has any thoughts about what might be causing the issue, I'd really appreciate the help. It's frustrating having both stuff that I download and mods that I take the time to create do absolutely nothing.
Guest Tessera
Your post makes no mention of which version of Oblivion you're running. Did you install the official 1.15 patch from Bethesda, before trying to install any mods..? If not, then this may very well be where your problem lies. I'm running version 1.15, and installed the patch before even starting to download any mods or the construction set. I didn't have this trouble the first time I installed the game, after it first came out.. so I'm wondering if it might actually be a bug in ver. 1.15, or if it's maybe an issue with the current version of MMOD.
