mcgoy
Note that when multi-classing a Character, you have to consider what attributes a talent or spell needs. Rogue talents commonly need Dexterity and/or Cunning, Warriors need Strength and/or Dexterity and Mages commonly need Magic (and/or Spellpower. Unless you use a mod that gives you access to additional attribute points/books, a multi-class character often ends up without enough attribute points to use the new talents/spells. Easy example. A Mage is going to put a lot of attribute points to magic and spellpower. A Mage who has added rogue talents (for example) is going to have to put attribute points to cunning to open locks and will have to put attribute points to dexterity and strength to hit the target and do damage with a sword or knife. So you are going to have the choose between using the attribute points to make the Mage's spells stronger and more effective or being able to do damage with a weapon (or pick locks). If you try to assign the attribute points uniformly, you often end up with a mage who has weak spells and does little/no damage with a weapon. The most effective way to multiclass would be to copy and then modify the talents so that they use magic as their base rather than strength or dexterity. willjk57
Ok, cool, I think I've learned a lot, even if by error. The magic for rogue is...well....But as I am drawn more for playing battle mage now the stealth is perfect, and having Morrigan as a back-up giving second attacks is almost too easy, too. Sometimes the rogue and tank don't even get many whacks in. Ha ha
MagdalenaDwojniak
In order to make a multiclass character effective, you need to augment the right attributes. For mages, magic is the most important (and with arcane warrior's Combat Magic mode, it can serve as the attribute to equip armour). As a rogue, you probably favoured dexterity, cunning and strength. So no matter your primary class, in order to use a talent effectively, you need to invest in the right attributes. For the PC who is a mage, investing in magic first is a must, but then, in the Fade with all those fonts which give you permanent boosts to strength and dexterity, it is a bit easier to multiclass from mage to rogue than vice-versa.
