Hey everyone!

Doing my playthrough of Skyrim with a lot of new mods installed that I haven't tried out. Did all my reasearch, cleaned and sorted everything before starting a new game and so far I have had the most stable Skyrim experience to date, but there is one bug I can't seem to get rid off and I was hoping someone here could help me.

I have searched and searched, but I can't find someone with the same bug as I have. Some archer enemies detect me and draw their bow then they continue to just charge to me instead of firing arrows. When they come up to me they draw their melee weapon, but the weapon is not in their hand and they just stand there not attacking. They keep following me around, but won't attack. If I get far enough away for them to draw their bow again, they will fire (sometimes). Another bug which I believe is related to the same thing is that NPC's/enemies have their bows drawn, but the bow itself is invisible and they never fire. Just moving around with their invisible bow drawn.I have tried AI console commands, disable/enable, deactivating Ultimate Combat, but still this problem remains. It is as mentioned random and every now and then this happens.

I have tried changing the ugrid value (with cell stabilizer mod) since someone said in their thread that it heped them, but that is not the case here. Because in most cases of enemies not attacking they are just standing still, not charging like mine does.
I do not have any mods modifying enemy AI except Ultimate Combat or anything I can think of that can cause this. Here is my load order:

Don't know if this is relevant, but I noticed that when the enemy draws his weapon (in this case a steel dagger) it shows on the ground/under it's body sheathed. Here is a screenshot

So I am at loss and hoping someone knows what the problem could be. I feel so guilty when this happens and I can just tear the enemy down without a challenge.

 

EDIT: I have tried using the Artificial Intelligence Limit mod, but it dosen't help. Also took a look at the enemy inventory (the dude in the screenshot above) and it says he has the dagger worn.

EDIT 2: I just read on the Elder Scrolls Wiki that "If a Shade attacks the Dragonborn with a bow, when the Dragonborn gets into melee range, the Shade will equip a melee weapon if they have one, but it won't use it.". So that explains the enemy above then I guess, but still not the archers holding invisible bows drawn and not doign anything

You've got a bunch of combat related mods in that list. Looked like 4 or 5 IIRC. Heck look for anything that involves weapon (esp bows), perhaps Hunterborn is a factor? I can tell you the best way to start without knowing the exact cause is process of elimination. Disable all of them, see if the problem persists. If your game plays right at that time, start enabling combat mods one at a time until you recreate your bug.

 

At that point you have your most likely suspect, BUT since it may be a combination of mods, you can try tinkering around with combinations of the active ones. That means if it initially looks like mod X is the culprit and you really love that mod, you MAY be able to find out it's not mod X, but mod X paired with mod Y, and you can get rid of mod Y instead.

 

Yes it's painstakingly slow compared to knowing the answer up front, but sometimes there's no substitute for old fashioned diagnostic testing.

Thank you for the input. I have tried deactivating anything that has remotely anything to do with combat and enemy equipment, but with no luck. Which other mods do you think can be involved? Since you mentioned 4 or 5 combat mods. All I know that modifies combat in any way is Ultimate combat. Regarding to weapons, all I have are mods that adds equipment that can be crafted. Nothing that gets distributed out. Hunterborn only modifies how you handle skinning and harvesting ingredients from wildlife. Nothing with the bows or combat. I will keep trying, but it is very weird
