I've looked for something similar to this, but couldn't find it. If it exists somewhere, then I apologize for the useless post. What I want are natural and realistic indications of the information the HUD would normally give you. The health bar is easy. I would be fine with the bloody red border and heart pounding that's been done in other games. Or maybe there's a better way. Maybe the magic meter could somehow be tied to how brightly your magic hand(s) glow(s). I'm not sure about that one, but i know there's a good way to do it. You outstandingly intelligent people could definitely make something work. For the sneaking indicator, maybe something to do with screen edge darkening to show you're in sneak mode and maybe a subtle flash when you're seen by someone. I think the compass should be an actual hand compass that you have to take out to look at in the same way you would your map, but wouldn't be visible at all while moving through the world. And the crosshairs... none. Archery is way more satisfying without them anyway. As for the action icons for stealing and lockpicking and stuff, I'm not sure. Maybe a very unobtrusive line of text that suggest that the player is thinking to him/herself about it. Like "Should I steal this?" or "Should I sleep here?" or something, I don't know. Probably not that, but I know there's a good way to do it. I just want to get rid of the HUD completely, but still be able to know the stuff I need to know to play the game. (toggle on and off to access compass) Less Intrusive HUD has an option of a bar that fills up when sneaking that might not be to your taste, but it offers other things like the ability to reposition the sneak indicator, location indicator and compass, along with the status bars.
