Kryticaloo7
Nice to see active modders for the game but so far I have yet to see a mod that puts the hotbar in the center of the screen.Sure you might say "stretch it out across the screen",But the reasons being is I dislike being a "clicker".I like my games keybound.Makes playing games a whole lot better imho.I hate having to drag my eyes away from the action to see if my CD's are available to use.So if everything is in center there would be joy of tears for most keybinding gamers. And by the way,I'm referring to the game Dragons Age Origins.Yes I'm new to the game.As you could tell you guessed I played WoW. Thandal
These are the DA:O/A (and associated DLC) Forums. There is another set for DA2. (But I've moved this to the "Mod Request" sub-forum.) Regarding the OP's request: it essentially can't be done. The location of the Quickslot Bar is set by the Eclipse game engine, can't be modded. Best that's been done is creating multiple versions, (so you can assign more talents/spells) but all use the same spot on-screen.
senseisoul
Okay i don't know if it can't /can be done but i understand what you're aiming at. i play curently aion where also apppear some followup skills mid screen during battle that you can click on it to activate skill to keep direct on the action. not moving you're mouse much. I understand the loss of time by using the quickbar by clicking or by using the nummkeys for it. I use there a special mouse for it. Yes I own a real razer naga mouse that has 12 keys under the thumb that gives controll over the first like 10 skills under you're thumb. I don't know yet how to link like skills to number 11 and 12 . for now i know certain that 10 keys withtout a problem can be used for most games. it really makes using skills easier since you don't have to go up and down to click stuff on the toolbar. you can keep right on the action in the screen aswell. you loose the problems using you're left hand on activating skils . and that you can keep it more on moving around in any game effctivily. contoll of the keys under the thumb is just very litle getting used to but once you do , you will notice the benifit. It's probably more a matter of recalculating its starting position when somebody starts expanding it.
Thandal
Considering the number of people who have asked for this or other changes to the behaviour of the QuickSlot Bar, and the fact that all the mods that exist for it are limited to creating multiple instances, some of which can swap automatically depending on which weapon set is selected, I'd say your observation that the game engine "shouldn't matter" is erroneous. The positioning of the bar seems to be hard-coded into the engine itself, and is not moddable without access to the source code and re-compliling the appropriate file(s). (As a side note, I am always amused when the person who is asking for someone else to do work that the requester is unwilling/unable to do for her/himself makes a remark about how easy what they want done "should be".) FollowTheGourd
I never got around to finishing this yet, but it's not in the game engine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFATC9sGtII My point is that moving the quickbar should be a lot simpler than that. The main limitation from the engine is the number of quickslots you can practically have and keybinding them. Only reason I saw this request was because it was in the other forum first. FollowTheGourd
Sorry for the bump, but I've worked on actually implementing it and I'm actually pretty close now after giving it a couple days work.http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/75/index/7058637 Just some things to sort out I've mentioned on that page. I guess this is just more for requests, so request away but preferably minor tweaks to that, and please keep in mind the limitations I mentioned in that post. At best, I think I could change which quickslot gets assigned a hotkey, but not more than the default supported (maybe unless I did something like 1-2 = slot 12, 4-8 = slot 48, but that seems kind of meh). I'm not going to make the quickbars detachable or anything. Edited April 13, 2011 by FollowTheGourd
