Simple F03-NV Item Port Request

this can't be published, unless this outfit is found inside the New Vegas BSA archives

meaning that if the model and textures of this outfit didn't come inside New Vegas, a mod that adds this can't be uploaded here

if you do have the DLC for Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you can easily convert this yourself

making an item in the GECK is easy stuff

also, i'm pretty sure that someone wrote a guide about how to "port" mods from FO3 to New Vegas, but you'll have to search for this one

and if no such guide was written, i could tell you what to do, if you want

but like i said, since you can't release this, no one can really make this for you (well, we can't release the model and all, but we can make the plugin, and tell you where to move the model and all)

so, what do you say??

well, first you need the GECK for New Vegas, for actually making the plugin that will allow you to use the armor in the game

then you need to find the model and texture that this armor uses, copy them, and pasting them to your New Vegas directory, while keeping the same path, so that the textures will work

then you will need to create the plugin in the GECK

just open the GECK, load the main New Vegas plugin, and let the GECK load (it may look like it's frozen, but it's loading, so let it finish)

on the left side of the screen, you'll have the Object Window

click on Items -> Armor, and click on an armor (it doesn't really matter which)

right click on that armor, and choose Edit

change the ID to something that you'll know, and click OK

when asked if you want to create a new instance, click Yes

then you need to find the new ID that you made, right click on it, and choose Edit

then you need to rename the armor to whatever you want, change the model to the one you took from OA, and mess with the stats to fit your liking

when you are done, save, name your plugin as you wish, and you are done

just a suggestion, when you choose an armor, don't take something that is faction related, unless you want the armor to be related to a faction

i would suggest something like the combat armor as a base

if you have any more specific question, like specific details, you are welcome to ask

good luck :)

ok how would I go about finding the model and textures of the chinese armor from fo3? would I use the fo3 geck and like export it? (sorry never used the GECK before) also what u said about choosing a item-editing it and so on, will that make a copy of the item which I can change to my liking or will it edit the existing combat armor for example?

well, to find the model and textures of the armor, you could open up the FO3 GECK, load OA as well, find the armor, and then find the path of the model

as for the textures, they should have the exact same path, just inside the Texture folder, not the Meshes folder

as for the second question, that is why i said to change the ID, and then make a new instance

if you don't change the ID, you will just change the item you have selected

and if you do change the ID, and not make a new instance, well, this would probably be a really bad idea, as it would probably mess up your game

so just give the item a new ID and make a new instance, and make sure to edit the new instance, not the original

yeah, it's also late here, so i may not be here for too long

so try it tomorrow, and i'll be here to assist some more, if you'll need it

agh forget it, no idea what to do, :( I searched around for some tutorials but most were about converting someone elses mod not vanilla items, if someone could send me a remade one or a link to it to download or on a upload site that would be much appreciated. thanks anyway

personally I think this whole restriction is stupid scheme set by bethesda, the games are the same so why shouldnt there be a mod that added items from fo3 to f:nv >:(

i wouldn't say such things, no good will come out of it

and like i said, no one can send you such a mod, as we can't send you any copyrighted material

as for the actual meshes and textures, they should be inside your Anchorage - Main.BSA file

you just need to find the items there, extract them, then continue on
