How to add custom clothing to npcs?

Hey all, I'm basically a bit of a noob to these awesome mods everyone here makes. I've looked everywhere for a solution to this though...

 

I've got the FEM using the Type3 body mod, and I downloaded the Bubblegum clothing mod with the intention of applying it to an npc.

Been fricking around for ages, can't figure out how I can possibly do this.

 

Can someone give me a hand? Been kind of pulling my hair out figuring this out (probably a simple solution) :)

Double click on the NPC in GECK to edit it, goto the invetory tab to open inventory, then scroll to the armor tab and fiel your new clothing/armor, drag it to the invetory of the NPC ( proberly want to delete the old clothing from invetory) close and save.

Thanks for replying micalov, I really appreciate it. I havent delved into the geck much.. I downloaded it and installed it just now.

 

I went into actors and I can't see any NPCs other than the Player. If I wanted to modify say, Nova, how would I go about this?

Ah! File > Data... import Fallout3.esm

If you prefer to do this in game, there are some mods that can help you. The Groovatron allows you access to an NPCs inventory, simply give them the item you want them to wear and take their original outfit. Or, in Lings Finer Things you can buy an item called Lings Magic Ring, equip it yourself, and when you speak to an NPC you'll get a dialog option (something like "I want you to try soemthing on for me") which gives you access to their inventory. I'm sure there are other mods that do this as well, but those two are the only ones I've used.
