Details:

Doctor Socket's Happy Teeth is a horrific new environment for the wastes around Vegas. It will depict the decrepit, pre-war office of a cruel dentist, the eponymous Doctor Socket, whose attempts to survive the impending end of civilization didn't go quite as he had hoped. The focus will be on atmosphere, scares, and writing. This mod will be lore-friendly and balanced, and I have tried to copy the tone and the humor of the game as well. The goal of this mod is to extend the gameplay of Fallout New Vegas by 1-2 hours, by adding a completely new environment for the player to explore. As this is my first mod, I am learning by doing, so I am open to any suggestions you may have. If this new environment is well-received, I would like to eventually add more new areas.

UPDATE 8 JUNE: I've finally found the time to finish this. I'm just tweaking a few features and I've also completely finished everything. Look for a beta VERY SOON!

NOTES:

1. These screenshots have been taken with Electro-City and URWL; I consider these mods essential. The final product will also be tested on vanilla, but I would recommend a lighting mod for the complete experience.

2. As this is a horror mod, the best bits have been held back for shock value. There is far more than meets the eye here!

The staff break room. This screenshot was taken without Electro-City or URWL turned on; as you can see, the lighting is fine.http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/345/falloutnv20110115161356.png

The concept is sound, but I have a couple of issues with the supplied pictures.

Staff break room: The Nuka Cola machine is back to front.

General: The lighting needs an overhaul.

I do understand that it's your first mod, and I'm glad you're doing something constructive other then making a god weapon. So well done so far, and I'm looking forward to it.

An overhaul? How so? Darker or lighter or more sources or what? Bear in mind that electro-city greatly increases the lighting emissions...

Also, thanks for your feedback!

I updated the screenshots and added a couple more. As you can see from the second shot, the lighting is fine; however, the Pip-Boy light is highly recommended for this environment.

Dr. Socket's Office is pretty much done; now I will be focusing on the environment you can see in the last screenshot. I want to be a bit mysterious about what it is; I don't want to give everything away!

Also, I will be eventually adding a new building to the wasteland to represent the office, but I think for the first beta I will just ask players to teleport in using the COC command.

  • 2 weeks later...

This concept is not too far from my own first mod in the works.

Everything is basicly done for my mod, I need a write up and to get the new items in game, thatas the hardest part.

Im blessed by this community and its members, we have the best modders and the most helpful people here at the nexus.

I'd like to offer my hand with this project, I am a new modder myself, but if you need anything, dont be afriad to ask.

( and keep us posted :) )

Thanks Allan and Ethkell for your support. I would love to work with other people in the future; this whole modding stuff is a lot of work :-P

Progress has been slow; I just got hit in the face with college and it's taking up all my time. However, I'll try and get some new screens up by the end of the week. Keep it posted!
