TheCalliton Posted January 13, 2011 Share Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) hello allon friday i am doing a speech on why not all secular heavy metal is evil.my main two shining examples will be black sabbath and iron maiden, with some stuff my iced earth, megadeth, metallica, corrosion of conformity, and blind guardian. I was wondering if you guys had any more metal bands that have good songs. (NOT SCREAMO) edit: by good, i mean good by private school standards... those tightlaced snobs. Genzel Posted January 13, 2011 Share Posted January 13, 2011 Awesome! I wrote a satire paper making fun of people who think Metal is evil. Just don't show a Slayer album cover lol. Any progressive metal band would be a very good example. Dream Theatre has very beautiful music with generally mild themes. Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden will work the best though, because they have been branded as evil the most but are not evil in anyway. The lyrics for "Number of the Beast" are about a dream Harris had, yet people think it is some sort of ritual, and said album's artwork inside the cover show Eddie killing satan, not worshiping him. Richie Blackmore's Rainbow, of which Dio was the singer, is a bit pre-metal, but it is a good one to use. You might even want to bring up how many metal musicians went to college and are intelligent reasonable people and not mindless devil worshipers like people often think.
