ianbernard
IntroHello everyone, my name is Ian. I got DAO when it first came out, and played it all day everyday... until my little sister decided she wanted to play technician on my computer and uninstalled the game. Duh, I was mad so I went to her room and was like... WTF? Well, anyway, we got into a fight and she broke my disc, leaving me Dragon Age-less. I just ordered another copy of the game, after looking at some awesome mods that rekindled my love for it. I remember the vanilla quests pretty well, and they where great, but I see people can make new ones now, and new locations, NPC's etc., and I want to also. I've had the idea of making new locations and whatnot since I began playing, and now that I'm more computer savvy, I figured I'd be able to now. (plus I just got a bad-ass computer for Christmas ^^") I know I wont be able to do the whole Add-on by myself, which is why I'm here. I need a team of at least five people that know what they're doing, and can help me learn the modding tools, guide me in the creation process, help fix bugs, animation creators, cut-scene maker, possibly voice actors... basically a team of patient people, that are willing to help, put effort into the project, and fix my dumb mistakes that I know will happen at first. Like I said, I'm computer savvy, but I know this doesn't mean I know everything about modding DAO. I've modded The Sims 2 & The Sims 3, Fable for PC, and Zoo Tycoon. I know DAO is very different from these games, as every modding process for each game is different. I am a fast learner, and once someone shows me around a modding program, explaining what each tool does, showing me how to do what is needed, I pick it up quickly and I'm soon able to do things solo. I'm sure after a while, I'll be able to make smaller mods for the game by myself, but like I said, I know I will not be able to do this project without a good team. The TeamBelow is where I will put who is helping me with the project. As of now, the list is detailing the people I need. If you want to help, and can help, please send me a message on the forums. My username is Ianbernard (lol, duh).Anyway, here is a list of what I need to be done by people that actually can do a good job completing their tasks. ModeratorSomeone that can assist me when I need help or get stuck. This person should be very patient, meaning able to handle me if I get a bit crazy. :PThis person should know a lot about modding DAO, know how to complete every task, and fix others mistakes if necessary. No, this person will not have the burden of doing everything. He/She would just be like a supervisor, making sure the team is doing everything correctly.[*]AnimatorsPlease, don't assign yourself to this role if you aren't very good with animation. No pun intended to anyone, but this person should be able to make the best quality of animations.Their task are as followed.Creating animations for cut-scenes, animating interactions with people, animating the movements of NPC's, etc.[*]Cut-Scene MakerI'm not sure if this would be considered animation, but I need someone to, obviously, make cut-scenes. And I'm not talking about mediocre/amateur quality, but high class, top of the line cut-scenes.[*]ExterminatorA catchy title, yes? This person should be able to find bugs that are reported, and, well, exterminate them.[*]Dialog CreatorThis person should be able to take the script provided, and create a smoothly working dialog. The dialog should have many different outcomes, just like the dialog that was created for the game. If you are good with dialog creation, please take this role. This person is important; for without dialog, how would we know what to do? ;D [*]Voice ActorsThis is a serious position. I need a few volunteers to be the voice of our NPC's. Please, be completely serious if you are a voice actor. The last thing we need is a wonderful team with goofy voice actors to ruin the project. You would be the icing on the cake. If the icing doesn't look good, are you going to eat the cake?To become a voice actor, you will need to "audition". When the team is ready, lines spoken by NPC's in the game will be used as a script. You would read the script aloud into a mic, recording yourself, then email the file to me whenever auditions are being held. More information will come, please watch for openings in the future. The IdeaI want to make a new location, possible two or three, that has many new quests. I want to introduce new NPC's, recruits, and possibly a new origin. This will be a tedious project that will require a lot of hard work and effort, but I know with a good team we'll get it busted out in no time at all. I'm leaning more toward making an elf city. The Alienage is depressing, and the Dalish elves are disappointing. I want these new elves to be like Antiva City would be. Very much like the elves of Silvermoon in WOW. A large city would be made, with several districts like Denerim. I want it to look unique in its own way, but not so much like the red Silvermoon. As the main antagonists of the new area, I'm thinking I want them to be Dwarfs that are possessed by the Darkspawn. The story behind that would be that the lost warriors of Orzammar would have been captured by the Darkspawn, then possessed somehow to be evil. (like pre-darkspawn if that makes sense) I'm thinking to get to the city, you'd have to have first been to, or revisited The Alienage, where you would talk to a frantic man who's wife was stolen by the possessed dwarfs. He sends you to collect information that would lead you to the first new location, a village. In that village, you talk to a man in a hood that is reluctant to give you information, but if he is persuaded or killed, you receive a map that shows this new city.Once the map is added to your inventory, the location will appear on your world map. [*]Once you begin to travel to the new city, you run into two new areas along the way. A small camp with a merchant and rest area. Second, a watch post that you'll return to later for a quest, that you first run into the possessed dwarfs. [*]You then continue to travel onward, when you reach the city gates, a guard is hesitant to let you into the city.(If the warden is an elf, and is accompanied by Zevran, he's more likely to let you in on persuasion. If the warden is a human, you will need to travel to another location a kill some possessed dwarfs and grab an item off a dead elf person that you return to the guard so he lets you in. If the warden is a dwarf, not only will you have to retrieve the item, you'll have to then go with a group of scouts to see how a watch post is holding up, and when you arrive you have to kill all the possessed dwarfs, then return to be able to enter the city.)(I will add more to the idea once I get some feedback.) DarkeWolf
-Bump Ian, I'm sorry to have to tell you that we really dont allow thread bumping here on the nexus. I really wish that we could help you promote your idea, your mod, and your endeavor. I am sorry, but we dont allow thread bumping here. And technically.... thread necromancy isn't allowed either. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/2881-all-newbies-read-this-before-posting/ So yeah, while I wish that I could help you out on this, as a staff member I do have to let you know that the thread will be closed if bumping continues.Sorry about that.-DarkeWolf
