Fatalmasterpiece
One thing I haven't really seen touched on are vanilla companions for Skyrim. Now before people get all up in arms about how it would change the way TES has always been a solo adventure game consider for a moment that you could very well choose not to have any companions, just like you can choose not to in FO3. Companions are one of the most popular mods for Oblivion, and it's obvious Bethesda picked up on this while making FO3. I am wondering if they will carry over into their new game. I for one hope they do because non-voice acted bland companion mods just arn't as fun or interesting as some of the cool companions you can get in FO. Personally I don't want to see Oblivion 1.5 with improved graphics. A new game needs some new features, not just improvements on an old rehashed model. Anyone seen any evidence point either way? Nadimos
If oblivion modders can make dragons as companions, bethesda probably can do so in skyrim, too, except they got investors and those usually dont understand a thing but money, money, money, so it kinda tends to wreck all the features. I dont think we will be seeing something revolutionary, be it this aspect or any other for that matter. Edited January 15, 2011 by Nadimos
MadMike710
I think (or at least hope) they would be introduced. They picked up on perks from Fallout so why not.
wannsa
Well, I hope there are companions, but with the option to not take them. And it would be nice if the were really fleshed out. You're right, who wants a companion that just follows and stays? Companion Vilja for Oblivion by EmmaIf they're as wonderful as this, I'm all for it! What's the chances we'll see something like that in Skyrim? I dunno, but what a change to gameplay it could make. Or not if you ignore them lol. Kendo 2
If they included vanilla companions, I HOPE HOPE HOPE they dropped the Companion Wheel thing from NV. It is an immersion-killer.
dodger805
I want companions with feelings and a sense of whats right and wrong from their perspective and I want them to have background stories like for instance Vilja which is the best mod for oblivion ever and could basically be the only one needed in the game. I mean say you have a really barbaric nord wielding a giant axe and don't really care which path you'll go down as long as he can kill some were-yeties? Wouldn't that be a kickass companion?? It is an immersion-killer.Not really. Its just for ease of use. Although I have to admit, travelling throughout the Mojave, I found more than one floating rock >.< (too bad I have it on PS3 too lol) Its just like talking to them. It freezes time basically, and when you select something, its just like telling them something. From what I've read about Skyrim though, the NPCs move around while you talk to them. dodger805
I must say that I utterly hated the companion wheel. I liked the way of control you have in like Vilja where you actually had to tell them to do this and that not just choose a picture.
Fatalmasterpiece
The primary thing to me is quality voice acting. Without voicing acting its a real immersion killer when you go from talking to some noc to reading this chunk of often poorly written text... Which is why I have never used or will use and mod made companions. I don't mind the companion wheel but agree there must be a better way of handling interaction which can foster a natural approach. Deleted1848331User
Since they claim the NPCs will move around and do stuff even as you talk to them, I'm guessing the companion wheel won't be there.
