SpellAndShield
We know for example that the Templars are hunting you if you play an apostate mage. I wonder how the other classes will play out; something unique?
Retribution
It likely won't have any big effect on the story, just changes like Carver criticizing you if you're a Mage for the Templars hunting you.
Thandal
The Rumour MIll has it that your class will determine which of your siblings is still alive at the end of the "Flight from Lothering/Arrival in Kirkwall" phase... You will not be able to rescue both, and your options become constrained by your class in such a way that it determines which one survives to be with you into the next part of the story. Retribution
That isn't a rumor, Devs have confirmed it 5 times over.

Thandal
That isn't a rumor, Devs have confirmed it 5 times over.Darth Gaider and the rest of his team LIVE on Fan Tears. (Well, at least Mary Kirby has let us know that the writers make their coffee with them!) Yes, they've hinted and suggested, but until someone can say they've PLAYED the released version, I prefer to use the term "rumour". (Saves eating crow later when there's a change of heart and the game isn't "as expected".)
xXJoshXx
All I know is that if you are a mage, your sister dies. But is you choose warrior or rogue you then have a need for a mage and you brother dies instead of your sister because he is a warrior and you have no need for another warrior. brokenergy
Ahh... the class thing, actually this thing is plot related more than gameplay as you are in a draconian city ruled by Templars. So instead of some minor lines it would have a larger impact and might cause some friction between the mage and non-mage siblings. The devs have comfirmed it, for story reasons you can have one mage, which is either mage Hawke or Hawke's sister. David Gaider wrote... Not that this is something you're really concerned about, I imagine, but this came down to a design decision. I understand that you're deciding who you like more based on a meta-gaming decision (using information gleaned from previews, along with assumptions as to what Bethany and Carver are about) but someone who's playing the game for the first time won't know these things. How would they make such a decision, based on characters they've only just met? It would feel hollow at best-- and providing a decision that indirectly did the same thing (meaning you weren't directly deciding between them, but whatever decision you did make had the same end effect) might also feel cheap. This did what we needed for the story to work-- and personally I really like the fact that both Bethany and Carver are fully-realized characters, providing you family members that aren't killed off right at the beginning of the story who are also going to work as part of it. I would caution you not to assume the worst about characters you haven't met yet and a story you don't know about... but you are of course free to jump to whatever conclusions you like.
