TheRealRaVir
What mods would you recommend for a Morrowind fan who wants to get into Oblivion? I'm thinking some travel mod to replace the fast travel with an in-game system.. and something to stop the camera zooming in excessively when you talk to someone. And probably something to replace the persuasion mini-game, since hearing all those NPCs have opposite reactions constantly is silly. And of course a UI mod... Anything obvious I'm missing? Any "must have" mods for a first play through?
InAComaDial999
For the UI, use DARNIfied UI. For the zoomed in dialog, edit your Oblivion.ini file -- the one in the My Games\Oblivion folder, not the default one in the Oblivion install directory. Change the fDlgFocus=2.1000 setting to a higher value. 4.0000 will turn off the zooming altogether, 3.0000 will make it a little more reasonable without taking it completely away. For the Persuasion minigame, I would recommend Persuasion Overhaul OBSE. Not 100% like the one in Morrowind, but more immersive than the default. For fast travel, there are a lot of mods that add Morrowind-style travel options. They all tend to have issues, though. The best one I have used is Cyrodiil Travel Services. Sadly it doesn't feature Silt Striders, but it's not bad otherwise.
David Brasher
One thing I really missed when I moved from Morrowind to Oblivion was the soul gems. The Oblivion ones are so bland. Here is the mod I use: Leviathan Soul Gems - Abridged
TodaY
Modular Oblivion Enhanced From the description:29) Travel Services (version 3) This plug-in adds carriage travel services. Each major city stable will now offer these services for a reasonable price, depending on distance. It works like the Morrowind silt strider. Updates - Version #2: When using travel services and advancing the game by several hours, you will no longer keep temporary magical effects that should have expired during this time. Also changed some voices to be closer to the stock voices. Hope this is what you were looking for :)
TheRealRaVir
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I will give these a try. I heard they removed the conversation zoom in Skyrim. Happy me! :)
