l1nkown
Does anyone know how I can get two different installs of Oblivion? I wanted to try FCOM, but I don't wanna uninstall my old oblivion setup. Basically I want two different mod setups on two different games.
bben46
Due to the way Oblivion installs, it is actually not possible to have 2 separate installs on the same computer. :wallbash: However, I have found a way around that. It's actually one install, but with separate data folder, mods, save games, and even the possibility of a separate Oblivion.ini if you want it. Be sure to back your data folder up before starting on this project. :whistling: Here is a link to my dual Oblivion article.http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=
Deleted2461031User
Or just use mTES4 Manager, which does allow you to have multiple installations of Oblivion (or Fallout 3) at the same time, and easily switch between them. Granted, bben46's method should work too, but using mTES4 is probably simpler. Here's a guide to using it. I wanted to try FCOM, but I don't wanna uninstall my old oblivion setup. Basically I want two different mod setups on two different games. I've been doing this for years, there's nothing to it. Your ini file and save games are stored in "My Documents\My Games\Oblivion" and obviously your game is wherever you installed it, typically "Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion". All you have to do is make copies of those two folders. Whichever folder is named "Oblivion" is the active one, so you can have "Oblivion_FCOM", "Oblivion_Vanilla", etc, and switch between them by changing their name to simply "Oblivion". This is really all mTES4_manager does.
