kantanshi Posted January 16, 2011 Share Posted January 16, 2011 I've been thinking about making a creature companion. Been trying to do so for the last 2 days and the creation has me stumped. I've restarted so many times now it isn't funny. I get to the point I've made the NPC, but the dialogue stops me dead in my tracks. I've looked at other companions to try and figure things out. I've tried using the RR Vault and I end up with conversations that I didn't put in and don't work for a creature companion. I've tried using EZ Companion but that one just ends up with CTD's constantly. Could someone help me out with either a very detailed walkthrough of making a companion from start to finish or if you are able to make a simple Big Horn companion that will just follow I would appreciate it. My goal is this. Once I am able to get the base working companion I plan on making a new model for it. The purpose of this model is to supply all the scavenger players out there with a method of carrying all the various loot you find while out and about. I want to make it so that you can have a Big Horn following you around with a cart in which you can drop all the booty you can find. Essentially becoming a scavenger type player character that supplies the vendors. I know it won't be an easy thing to accomplish but I really want to try. I'd modify the BH model to include a tow rig of some sort so that it can drag around a cart. I'll end up making a skeleton so that it is articulated. Hopefully figure out how to make the wheels rotate. I may end up having to create my own cart also I'm guessing. I want to do this right, but I need some help. I've got a little experience in Blender. Thing is, I can figure out how to use Blender much easier than I am able to learn this NPC creation... I just can't wrap my mind around it for some reason. I followed the guide on this page: Companion Guide Is there something new in NV GECK/scripting that would make this guide fail to accomplish the dialogue commands of follow/wait/fire? **EDIT** Found the problem. There was a 10 - 15 second wait before it would follow me. I had to check the flag for "No Idle Anims" as its' sandboxing would prevent it from following right away.
