Help me Build a Computer.

I thinking building PC. Although I've mess about with my current PC, I've never built a PC before so I need some help, Can you guys suggest a good MOBO and CPU combo thats under $400. I'd like a Quad Core CPU, But I just want something that can play DA: O and Fallout on Max

I don't have one, my MOBO's integrated video card was ATI Radeon 4200 HD,

Okay, an integrated graphics card won't play fallout 3 at all.

 

You will probably need a lot more new components I will give a brief summary of computer components.

 

Motherboard.

Processor.

Graphics card.

Powersupply.

Harddisk.

Optical station.

Case.

Screen.

And windows. (This is $70-$110)

 

You can fit new components in your current computer but new components need more power. So with most upgrades you need a new powersupply which drives up the price.

 

Please post what components your computer has now.

This is what my answer would have been, maybe because I've been looking at the exact same mobo and cpu.

But, like it already has been mentioned, you will surely need a new power supply, which will cost you probably an extra 80$, at the minimum.

I don't think you need an I7. An I5 should be capable of playing Fallout on max without problems. However, i would buy an I7 myself just to have the best gear :D And remember, i talk about Sandy Bridge. Edited January 27, 2011 by Feltmarskal

The best you'll do with $400 is a 5670 and a Athlon II.

 

I recommend spending at least $600 for your purchase to be worth it.

Well, for video, you can get this at NewEgg for under 250 USD:

 

Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

 

ATI cards are usually cheaper than Nvidia

 

(and no, I'm not an ATI fanboy, my current card is a GeForce 260) :)
