davidlallen
For a particular quest mod NPC, I would like to make a small, wimpy supermutant. But supermutants are creatures, not NPCs. So I cannot adjust their size, like I could for an NPC. And I cannot give them particular outfits, such as Wastelander. Marcus is also done as a creature; so is Tabitha. Is there any way to create a supermutant with different size or clothing?
Quetzlsacatanango
Once you drop them in the render window, hold down right click to adjust their scale, just like any other object. To give them specific armor or whatnot, time to fire up blender...
Quetzlsacatanango
Hold s, and drag with the left click to adjust scale, my mistake.
davidlallen
Thanks for the suggestion on scale, that worked. Is there any clothing item which supermutants can equip? I tried various hats and sunglasses, but they don't show up. Do supermutants use base game idle markers like chairs and beds? I have given my supermutant a sandbox package in a room with a chair and bed, and then watched for some time. He never used either one. There are some mods like "fleshy supermutants" which do a recolor of the supermutant. However, they override the base game texture, so you cannot have one normal colored supermutant and one recolored one. I can use nifskope to clone nif files and associate different textures with each. But, I suspect for creatures with skeletons and animations, there are more things to do. If I want to make one supermutant with a different color, are there any other things I need to watch out for?
Quetzlsacatanango
As far as I know they can only equip weapons that are in their weapon list, all of their armors and whatnot are chosen from the model list tab in GECK. I don't know of a way to apply those in game. I don't think they will use anything intended for human animations, because of the different skeletons. I'm pretty sure they do have their own idle markers though. As long as you save your new nif in the smspinebreaker directory, where the SM skeleton lives, it will show up in the model list. Just choose it for your new mutant and that's it.
davidlallen
Thanks for the pointers into the smspinebreaker directory, now I understand more about creature models. I applied the "fleshy supermutant" and also a handy scarf from Bridget, which I guess is leftover from FO3 or something. Here is a screenshot of the result so far. But, I do not quite understand about supermutant specific idle markers. I would really like him to sit in a chair, I don't care so much about sleeping. The meshes/creatures/smspinebreaker directory has a bunch of kf files, but they are all for weapons. I looked around in Jacobstown and I could not find any idle markers that might be associated with the muties there. Can you offer me any leads on sitting supermutants, or any kind of idle marker for them?
Quetzlsacatanango
Look under idle markers and search for mutant, there are a couple there. I think you are SOL on chairs unless you can swing the animation. An alternative might be the SM mesh from the monster costume mod, which is basically a super mutant mesh rigged to the human skeleton, in which case he would be able to to anything an NPC can do, as it's just an armor that looks like a super mutant. davidlallen
With idle markers selected and the filter "mutant", I only get a few markers -- no idle animations. Did I misunderstand your suggestion? I searched for "costume" at newvegasnexus downloads without finding anything, then I searched at fallout3nexus and found this link. I suppose that must be what you meant. Unfortunately when I downloaded, winzip told me the download was not a valid 7z file. (I have downloaded other 7z, rar, etc files successfully). I'll retry from other servers, etc, since this seems like a promising lead.
Quetzlsacatanango
That's the one. The idle markers have idle anims associated with them.
