Long War Installation Issues (OSX, Non-Steam)

I'm trying to install the Long War mod (b15d2) on my mac. When I run the launcher, I got the following message:

Can not find game files. Please specify xew dir location

So I found the XEW directory, got the filepath (/Applications/XCOM Enemy Unknown - Elite Edition.app/Contents/Resources/MacOverrides) (I didn't download it from Steam and couldn't find a "Feral Interactive" directory in my Application Support folder), and copy/pasted it into the terminal window I was running the installer in, which returned this:

/Users/bbqd/Library/Application Support/Feral Interactive/XCOM Enemy Unknown/XEW is not a directory!

This isn't the filepath I gave it and I don't know why it's doing this. I will be happy to provide other reasonable information if it'll help. Thanks in advance!

What we know about getting XCOM to work on a Mac is found in the "Basic Guide to installing mods" wiki article, and the forum thread linked at the beginning of that section. The thread is lengthy, but contains lots of "exceptions" to the general rule of the wiki article.

The "bad news" is that the Long War team does not have anyone using a Mac. Their Mac version is based upon the Linux version and information passed back on the pathing of various versions for the Mac. Your path is similar to but not an exact match to what we know as the "gamersgate.co.uk" Elite Edition. Most likely you need to use the command line switch that tells the installer to use a non-standard path. This should be documented in the LW install instructions.

The Long War team monitors the "XCOM File Discussions" section closely and provides support there. (Much less frequently checking in here.) You are better off asking your questions there, in the above mentioned thread.
