SomeoneIknow
I'm trying to add a second floor in the Viki and Vance museum so I deleted the clutter and wall of debris in the room across from the entrance. And then I started adding walls/hallway and I felt like seeing the impact of (what little) I've done so far in-game. So I loaded it up and it looked fine however in certain angles the walls disappear, and when I go to the hallway and look at the existing area the walls/floors disappear. Do note that I am in no way done with the hallway, it is still a work in progress, but I don't think I'll continue working on it until I get this strange problem fixed. Any help/tip is welcome and thanks in advance, here are the pictures: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3614/pic3g.pngAt a certain angle/distance the hallway looks fine http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/4465/pic1eg.pngAt a certain angle and/or when approaching the new hallway http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/171/pic2md.pngThe view from inside the hallway PS: Could it be because I'm overlapping certain wall pieces with each other? davidlallen
Please check that you are using snap to grid as described in the geck tutorials, and that you are using compatible wall sets. If you put one type of wall next to another type of wall, they may not line up; the ceiling edges may be different, etc. If you are not using snap to grid you can easily get small gaps between any two pieces. This will also avoid problems when pieces overlap. Usually when pieces overlap, you get a "shimmer" or "flicker" in game where the two textures clash, rather than any grey area. I'm not really seeing any problem of small gaps in the pictures you have here. There are obvious large grey areas where you haven't placed down any pieces yet. If there are gaps visible in your screenshots can you put a red arrow, or something to indicate? If the problem is that you have placed pieces, but you are only seeing grey areas where you placed them, are you aware of the multibounds setting in your geckcustom.ini file? Please see the pinned faq in the talk forum next door for the solution to that.
Deleted1744345User
The fact that you are using an existing cell probably means there are room markers left over. Room markers in conjunction with portal markers help improve performance by not rendering what is not seen. In this case, the room markers and portals are probably not aligned properly and thus causing the section to fail at rendering. Just delete all room markers and portal markers from the object window. This is a problem that I also have in my mod, Yangtze Bunker, which you can see for yourself. I just haven't had the time to properly fix it.I hope that solves your problem. So silly of me I didn't think for a moment about room portals or markers when i was making the edits. Thanks man! Kudos for you!
Deleted1744345User
No problem. Just be aware at all times that vanilla cells may or may not have room markers and portals. The GECK wiki goes into further description about them on this page.
