BriarRose55
i downloaded 3ds max 2015 and nifskope 1.1.3.36 plus the 3ds max importer-exporter here on nexusmods. i went to find a video so i could install them correctly, and it said that i must have 3ds max 2012, that nifskope won't work with 2013 or higher? is this true, or has nifskope been upgraded to work with the newer version of 3ds max? pls help, i want to know if i have the right version before i wind up installing 2015, then have to uninstall and get an older version :P lol sorry to be a pain, i can work the creation kit pretty well by now, but i've just decided to branch out and i don't want to start off floundering in the dark, so to speak :) any help would be appreciated
mindboggles
2012 is pretty much the latest version that Nifscripts will work on "Properly", if you want to animate in Skyrim you would really be wanting to look for 3DS 2010 due to Havok Content Tools. Note, I use the term "Properly" very loosely.
BriarRose55
lol thank you! i take it the havok content tools are good? ok i'll backtrack and get rid of 2015, :)
mindboggles
Havok Content Tools is necessary if you want to do custom actor animations, things like new idles, attack animation replacers, etc. If your not planning on doing any of that then 2012 is probably the best way to go. If you want to animate nifs Skyrim will still run Gamebryo animations just fine even though there are many animated nifs done with Havok as well.
