What are collision boxes?

What are collision boxes? I keep seeing them in the GECK, ''cordoning'' off areas.

Judging from what I've seen, I can infer that collision boxes are basically boundaries, placed there to make sure the player cannot go beyond that point. Am I correct?

Thanks for any help.

Pardon me, but I do not understand what you mean. 'All sorts of things depending on the settings'

I have no idea what you just said.

Just to make myself more clear, I am referring to the collision boxes that you can find in the GECK, New Vegas Wasteland. When I click on the box, the name says 'Collision Box' at the bottom left corner of the GECK.

If you looked at the 2 links I put in my last post all would have become clear. Havok is the name of the middleware, that sorts out the collision for the game engine. Havok now has a very nice cloth collision system, that I would not mind seeing in games like this one.

Collision boxes will stop anything from going through them. So yes, they act as boundaries for the game. There are some mods that remove these boxes from the perimeter of the wasteland.

Ah, this is the answer I was looking for. Thanks a bunch!
