frinklin
A newbie to the PC version of DAO anyway. I've played through several times on the console version, and now that I have a PC with enough to run it I went out and picked up the Ultimate version. My question is this:where should I start? I love the idea of Mods adding some visual flair and much, much more attractive characters to the game. What mods are the must haves? And how difficult is it to install? Thanks for the feedback! EDIT: Are you kidding me? It looks like the 1.04 patch was the one killing my install. Clean Install + Mods runs fine. Clean Install + 1.04? Crash-city. You really need to do better EA. Thanks for the feedback!Welcome Frinklin! Now that you can use mods for DA you're in for a treat. Since you've already played the game on a console, you don't need the first piece of advice we give to most newbies, which is to playthrough the first time UNMODDED! (I will note thet a couple of the mods lidsted at the link provided above are known to cause significant problems when used with certain OTHER mods (although they work fine alone.) But there are mods, and then there are mods. Depends on what you'd like to change about the game. The list(s) found at the following link are a little dated, but will give you a good idea about the kinds of things that are our there: "Good Mods - Opinions". My own list is in the third post down. As far as how to get DA mods to work, (as you are probably new to that as well) see the new wiki article: "Using DA Mods for Dummies". Happy (Modded) Gaming!
frinklin
So far... not so good. I've added a few mostly cosmetic mods... and it kills my installation. I run the launcher, it makes me log in to my EA account (AGAIN!) and it says my install is corrupted. Do mods interfere with the DRM or something? And yes, before you ask, I didn't pirate my copy. I did it through Amazon's digital download.

For one thing, very few mods require a "launcher" of any kind, so... a) What mods? b) Where did you put them? c) If they required installation (and very few do) what program did you use? (DAUpdater, DAO-Modmanager, or DAModder?) d) When do you get an error message? e) What is the exact message you get?

When I mentioned a Launcher I actually meant the actual DAO launcher. (DAOriginsLauncher.exe). When I selected "play" I would get a message saying I needed to put in my EA account information again. When I did so I would get a "We're sorry, the game is corrupted and you must reinstall" I'm paraphrasing a bit, but that was the gist of it. I uninstalled the 1.04 patch and it's worked fine since

I really haven't found that to be possible with DA...)
