Starsickle
Hey guys - I'm new to Dragon age and I'd love to see JB's textures in action (as well as white teeth, and many more after I beat it once), but I can't figure out how the override folder is supposed to work. You supposedly just drop the textures (after all that extracting) into override/, but it doesn't work! No new textures, and no white teeth! it's under the my Documents path to core/override, but nothing happens. Some facts:Win 7DA: Ultimate I've read the guide, but for something that seems really simple I'm not getting any results! Was there anything I needed to do to prep the game to be modded? Is there something I'm doing wrong (drop into override seems simple...) Some help? Edited January 22, 2011 by blast0r
Thandal
Welcome to the DA side, Blast0r! Nothing special to "prep" the game for mods, but you haven't given quite enough info for anyone to help you. JB's and WhiteTeeth are two different mods, so different issues probably going on here. 1) JB's doesn't go in your "C:\[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\Packages\core\override" folder. Here's a copy-paste from the File Description page (emphasis added): ==========================Installation instructions: If you using any old version, like 1.0, 1.3, 2.0, then please go to [default] C:\Program Files\Dragon Age\packages\core\ and delete folder 'override'. 1. Download the files.2. Unpack the files using WinRAR / 7-Zip.3. Once you unpack the files, you will get a folder called 'override' for each part.4. Copy this folder to your game installation folder [default] C:\Program Files\Dragon Age\packages\core\.5. When asked to overwrite, click Yes.5. Done. Any problems? Go ahead and ask!========================== 2) As for White Teeth, even if you get it working properly; ==========================To Install, simply put "white_teeth.erf" into your Override folder.(My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override) This should be compatible with all other mods and patches, but it will override any changes Bioware or other modders do to the base face textures.=========================== And the reverse is also true, other mods can override what it tries to do. So if JB's includes "face textures, then... But can't tell what's going on in your case from the information provided.
Starsickle
That's strange - I had JB's in the game override and got nothing. lemme take two screens and see if there's a difference... Is there anything else I'm forgetting to mention?

That is a completely different path to a completely different folder than the one under "C:\Program Files\Dragon Age..."
Starsickle
Okay - JB's definitely worked originally. That's a relief. And now that white teeth is in the user one the teeth are working. Thanks for clearing it up! That's so strange...why are resources like this distributed through a system like this? So I guess there's a precedence to what kinds of mods are better put in one folder tan another? Edited January 22, 2011 by blast0r

It works, obviously, but applying custom textures to overwrite the game's defaults (not those applied to specific mod items and morphs) takes doing it the way this does. TerraEx
As an aside, did Bioware or any modder ever sort out the missing texture for the campfires, I could of sworn they were present in a recent playthrough of mine but having reinstalled recently the campfire textures are missing once again...
