Sinnermann
Hey all, I initially played Dragon Age right after it came out, but I have to admit the whole experience was disappointing, regardless of how fun it was from time to time. My problems with the game were cheesy dialogue and lack of in-depth tactics, which - for me - resulted in monotone and repetitive fights and quite weak battle experience, while also being too easy. I am quite sure nothing could be done with dialogue, but I also believe my expectations for the game were quite high, so that's one of the reasons why I was so disappointed. Anyway, I want to give it another chance. What should I look at? The only thing that I found so far is Combat Tweaks v323. Are there any other mods, some that might make the game harder, requiring more thinking and preparations? Any mods that are a must? Thanks in advance, hope mods will help me play through the game. I've heard lots of complaints, but never before the ones you're making.Anyway, the one mod you named is a) just the tip of the iceberg, and b) not a particularly popular one. (There are many others that change that aspect of the way DA works...) Although the lists are now a little dated, you can get a good idea of what some others think here: "Good Mods - Opinions".
Sinnermann
Heya, thanks. That list was a nice starting point. I've installed around 15 mods so far and it's a great experience. Thanks again, your help is much appreciated. I have another question. There is this quest I started in Korcari Wilds, called The Missionary; a letter I found on a dead body. Since Morrigan took me to her mother and I didn't have time to return to Korcari, I have that quest which I guess I won't be able to finish. Is there a console command (like in Oblivion) to force finishing of the quest? Or maybe a save game edit?
Sinnermann
Just wanted to give you some report on my progress: I am playing on Hard (thinking about switching to Nightmare) and extremely enjoying the game. I surely didn't have so much fun first time I played! It's being a great experience and part of it goes to mods, hats down!
Sinnermann
Aight, did not want to open a new topic to ask sort of same questions, so I'll just ask here. Hopefully, you are not bored with my questions. I've played that last game as an Arcane Warrior and although it took some time to be really effective (the main problem being lots of misses, a direct product of low dexterity), when it did kick in - oh, boy! - it made the quite really easy. Now, I played with Loot & Gamebalance Revision for Dragon Age on Nightmare, which was supposed to make it more challenging, but in the end, it didn't; after a certain point, it was a breeze. Obviously, I want to play again! :) I've got couple of questions which might be related, might be not, but let's see. First of all, I have to say I really loved playing Arcane Warrior and that it's going to be really hard for me not to play it again. It was a great role-playing experience for me. I'm thinking about spicing up the things a little bit and play a rogue this time; the thing is, playing AW required loads of micromanagement, so I didn't have the resources needed to run a real rogue with me. Being a rogue myself might make it easier. But I will have to micromanage two characters then, anyway, since I will have to have a mage for crowd control, which requires attention, due to friendly fire. What do you suggest? How to make game more demanding? I don't like the idea of running less than four party members, since it would make the game harder while sacrificing content, which is something I would really hate. What I was actually wondering if there is a mod which allows another companion slots - not the dog one? What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance and I'll understand if you don't want to be bothered with so many questions.
Thandal
LOL! Lots of folk (including myself) think the AW is waaaaaaay overpowered! I won't play it anymore. But then again, I don't play with any of the difficulty-enhancing mods, either. Sorry, there no way to add companions any beyond the pets (Dog, or Summoned critters.) It's a limitation coded into the Infinity game engine itself, so no modder is going to find a way around it. But for added difficuly, you have a variety of options: There's: "Nightmare Plus". Which has a bunch of plug-in modules, so you can adjust only those aspects of the game you want. There's: Slinks s3 RAVage. And for the truly masochistic, there's "the Last Stand". Enjoy! Sinnermann
Thanks. It's nice to have you around, I really appreciate your help; you posted in every single thread I've made since I started playing DA again. I am planning on combining Flash Creatures Rescale + slinks s3 RAVAge + Loot & Gamebalance Revision for Dragon Age and will let you know how it goes. Hoping for the best and NOT expecting the worst. :P
