shasow
How do I find an icon or mesh for an item from Oblivion in CS? For example, if I wanted to make a ring, where do I search for the mesh that's from Oblivion and not a mod? Or for another example, if I wanted to change an icon of a faction, where would I find the icon (without any mods)?
WastelandAssassin
let's say you want to find the icon of a weapon open the CS, and load the main Oblivion.esm (i would assume that the weapon is from the original game, not a mod)give it time to load, and after so, you should see a list on the window on the left side of the screen, titled Object Windowin this list, go Items -> Weapon -> Weapons -> the type that you want (let's say Steel)after you click on the type of weapon that you want, you will see the list of all the weapon in this categorypick the item that you want to use (let's say the Steel Claymore)right click on the weapon, and choose Edit now, in the new window that opened, on the top right side, there should be two boxes with file paths, the first ending with a NIF extension, and the other with a dds extensionthe first file path is for the model, while the second file path is for the icon if you want to have another item using these same files, you will have to extract them from the BSA (unless you will make a new instance of the same item, which will keep the paths, and then you'll just change the setting and stats) as for icons of factions, i'm not exactly sure what you are referring toif it's quest icons, i really have no idea when it comes to items, you can do the same thing i just described, just look at the item type that you are looking for (for instance, for rings, the path is Items -> Clothing -> Ring) hope this helps
shasow
if you want to have another item using these same files, you will have to extract them from the BSA That's what I was asking. Thanks. That should clear some stuff up for me. But how do I do that? Edited January 22, 2011 by shasow
