without using a mod is there a stock player safehouses in the game that dont respawn and delete all your stuff left there?

if the containers respwn then can you just throw all your chit on the floor or will that stuff just dissappear too?

i see lots of player house mods but i dont really see the need for having my own house yet having a safe place to put all your extra stuff so that you can always come back for later is good

i like having to look around for loading and work benches so i dont care about them but does anyone know of a stock location that has a bed and some sort of a container to put stuff in that doesnt respawn and delete your stuff?

you can always find a bed someplace but where is it safe to leave your stuff at?

I can confirm the schoolhouse and the apartment in Novac. There are other faction specific safe-houses, but I do not know if they respawn. They should not respawn but I would test them all first.

thanks for confirming the schoolhouse

the apartment in Novac was known to work, but still good to confirm

there is also another player house, at the Lucky 38, but this requires going into Vegas, which takes time (usually), so you may want a house before

as for the faction safe-houses, i have been to some, and i don't recall seeing any containers there (maybe fridges, but really can't remember any specific container)

so you can drop your items on the ground, though this is far from being a good choice

and if there are any containers there, than it's possible that you can use them

but i think the best option for you (or anyone without a player house mod) is to use the Novac player house

it's quite easy to get, has enough containers to organize your items, and Novac is an easy place to get to, around the middle of the map, so it's no hassle going there on most cases

well i have dropped stuff on the ground before in front of jeans skydiving house and in it too and after the 3 or 4 days it takes for things to respawn the powdergangers were alive again and all my stuff was gone , but they didnt have it

its crazy because i think a container is safe because it stays empty after i take the stuff but if i put something in this empty container its gone when i return :wallbash:

i just dont know if this is a random chance a container "might" lose your stuff or if a modded container is the only safe place there is because its scripted not to respawn or delete stuff

im just so sick of how many mods this game needs that i hate to use any mod it its not "really needed"

well, you aren't really supposed to start dropping items on the ground

that's why there are houses in the game

there are actually quite a lot of houses, due to yourself getting rooms in places (you can get a room in the Atomic Wrangler if i recall correctly, and there are probably others i just don't remember)

but like i said, Novac should be your easy choice

getting there is much better than trying to get a key to one of the faction's safe-houses, and it is much more comfortable, with everything you need

and like written before, the schoolhouse in Goodsprings has been confirmed to work properly, so it is a good choice for an early game stash

as for how many mod the game "needs", it's really up to you to decide

i added mods because i thought they were cool, not because i needed anything (most mods i have, i could easily live without)

well if you rent a room at the atomic wrangler tells you when you leave they assume you checked out and i can confirm you have no room when you come back again so that ones just for sleeping. i guess the one they give you works different but i never used it.

i thought novac hotel worked the same way but i never checked in there so i was just assuming it.

it just feels like a 50/50 shot as to what containers respawn stuff and what doesnt so i figured i'd ask if someone had already found some "safe" boxes for stuff

so i'll use the schoolhouse safe since you guys say its not going to delete my stuff

thanks for the help guys

i've actually never rented a room before

the hotel\motel in Novac is a player house, and will stay yours after you buy it, no matter what

as for the Atomic Wrangler, i know they give you a room once they like you enough, and it stays yours

about using it as a home, i can't say for sure

i don't think i ever found that room and went inside it, so i don't know what it has

so yeah, use the safe in the schoolhouse until you can get the house in Novac, then just use that one (it's really that great )

Containers that are not set to respawn should hold your gear in them forever unless they're affected by some other script.

The way you can test in-game if a container is set to respawn is to put an item in it, leave the cell completely (travel to some other interior cell to be safe, like, go chill with the Doc in goodsprings) wait at least 73 hours, go back and see if your stuff is still there. If your stuff is still there after you have been away from the cell for 73 hours, it is safe to store things in.

A good place you can get access to early is the Prospector's Den: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Prospector's_Den I used that as my home base for an entire playthrough. You have to clear it out of raiders at first, but after that your stuff is safe to store in a case that's marked "Storage Area". It also has an ammo reloading bench in it.

I would say in New Vegas, the majority of containers are actually no-respawn. Not all of them though. Especially containers with junk, or empty containers that would normally contain junk are risky, as they're the most likely candidates to be set to respawn.

Also, you have to be a bit aware of NPC behavior. NPCs generally don't do anything when you're not in their cell, but if they have sandboxing turned on they are liable to do things like steal food from your container, or possibly grab a weapon. You don't have to really worry about things disappearing when you're off halfway across the world, because all that AI doesn't get processed, but if you're in the room there with them, they might go over and eat your bloatfly slider or grab your fat man if you're not paying attention depending on their AI package.

Abandoned areas with non-respawning containers and no funny scripting are pretty safe though. Do the 3 day test first, and if it passes, it should be fine forever.
