Creating an Armor

Greetings

i wanna make an armor but i need some tutorials

Actually i just want to know how to make a few things:

-First: create an armor: i already have the nif files ready cause ill be using models from existing armors, so i need to know how to make the nif files i selected match the textures and icons i have for them.

-Second: putting the armor in the world in a chest in IC district

Any help or good links to tutorials for this please?

Thank you

this page may be helpful in setting the new texture for the armor

as for the new icon, you will have to do this in the CS

when you open up the CS, and make the armor, there will be a box for the model (the nif file) and another box for the icon

so set the icon as the one you want

as for putting the armor in the chest, that depends on whether you are using an existing chest or not

if you are using an existing chest, just find it's inventory, then add your armor into it

i can't find a tutorial for making a new container, but you could just edit a container of your choice, make a unique variant of it, then add it to the world, and add the armor to it

if you want some more help, just ask for something specific, and i'll try to be as useful as i can be

Items matched. So next step is creating rhe item in the CS right?

ill do this in the same esp as the black wisteria armor i have is. Feel a little lazy about finding out how to edit or place new containers

Just have to create the entry in Items-Armor in the object window? or is something else necessary

Something else: world model means the model the dropped item has?

i would recommend you to select an armor close to what you are making (in terms of stats and all), then just right click on it, click Edit, give a new ID, click yes when asked if you want to make a new instance

then just change the new armor you made to have the right name, model, icon and stats

as for placing the armor, if you don't want to add it to any container, i would recommend you to just open a cell of your choice, and drop the armor on the ground there

however, i wouldn't do this to one of the IC districts

i think you should drop it into one of the shops or something, as it's much easier to find, and the cell is much smaller, so less trouble opening it

as for the world model, i think that what you said is correct

Droped the items in the same black wisteria chest (used the same esp)

Almost done two more things:

The world model refers in most cases to a _gnd.nif file (i.e. meshes/armor/thief/m/cuirass_gnd.nif) only that for some reason those "_gnd.nif" files arent on my data tree folder

so where are those files or where can i get them?

Created the armor first as a new entry but found it was a light armor with no armor bonus lol

now i know why you suggested to edit an existing one but where does one edit those stats?

well, if you are looking at an armor from the original game, then you won't be able to find it's files, as they are packed in the BSA archives that the game comes with

so you will have to extract the file that you want out of the BSA (using OBMM or BSA Commander or some other program that allows you to unpack BSA archives)

if you are looking at a modded armor, then you should be able to find the file in your game's directory

as for editing the stats, it's all done in the CS

open the plugin where you have the armor, and find the armor that you have created

right click on it, and choose Edit

in the window that opens up, you will have all the boxes for the stats that you can change

almost everything is pretty self explanatory there, aside from enchantments, which is done in another section

if you want to make a new enchantment for the armor, go to Magic -> Enchantment (in the Object Window list on the left)

then, right click in the list, and choose New

give it an ID you will recognize as your, and set the type as Apparel

in the large field you have, right click and choose New

choose the effect that you want (let's say Fortify Health), keep range as self, duration as 0, and set the magnitude to your liking (like 50)

then click ok, and this effect will be added to the list

just add all the effect that you want, and you are done

then, back in the armor's box, add this enchantment in the Enchanting box

then, make sure that everything is chosen right (like the parts that the armor uses, the stats and all) then save, and you should be good to go

Thank you very much again

Im also looking for a better mesh for the upper part of the amazon armor top (too muscular for my character)

Now its time for the longest part: retexturing with photoshop

But at least now the armor is on a chest, all the pieces combine and have decent armor bonuses

Thanks man!

don't mention it

but if i am already here and helping, i may be able to help you solve the little problem you have

you said that you can't find where to increase the armor bonuses

if you could explain to me which bonuses you are talking about, i can easily tell you how to increase them (at least i hope so)

The value of the armor protection the very thing that makes a heavy armor be more protective than a light one,

In any case nevermind that...Just found the answer, didnt know what "AR" meant but on the CS page says thats the armor rating, only that is modified by the character's abilities as well

well, i'm glad you were able to solve the problem

i thought that this might be it, but it's good that you solved this yourself

and now you know where to look for answers (not that posting a question here isn't good, quite the opposite, but it's good to have an easy source of the basic information at your disposal)

good luck with the retexture :)

hope to see a picture of the end result
