faffman
I was playing my modded Skyrim as usual last night, and for the most part, it ran on the usual high quality video setting without a problem. Until by the time I was about to stop playing, when I noticed it started lagging increasingly, until it was really hard to play.So when I launched it today, the problem was still there, and it was pretty much unplayable. I hadn't added any mods right before the performance drop, except for one which I tried disabling, which didn't help. This mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=59017073 is the only ENB-ish thing I'm using, and it was fine until the drop happened. I launched the game with the regular launcher to see if it would adjust the video settings, and for the first time since I started playing Skyrim (same computer all the time), it was set to Low Quality. So, given that the mods are most likely not the cause, what else could be the explanation for this?
Jimmyjojo
I've had performance issues with too many re-texturing mods, mods that added trees and plants to the game world, and mods that change the lighting and/or the weather. I'm guessing the mod you're using is the culprit since it changes pretty much all the lighting in the game. If I were you I'd try loading a save you have before you added the mod and see if there's any difference in your computer's performance.
faffman
Which I did prior to making this thread, didn't help. Now, when I launched my Skyrim up yesterday, it did the automatic video quality setting again, and lo and behold, it managed a high quality setting again. Tried playing, worked like a charm. I should add that I had a cousin over to help me clean some stuff up in my computer, which may have helped a bit, so I suppose we can call it a day here. Jimmyjojo
Glad it got worked out. Sometimes things go wrong for no apparent reason, then go right again for no apparent reason. Skyrim is weird.
