There is tradition and there is the game's story going stale so quickly. It's just makes the game far too predictable and ruins the story for many. I have no problems with tropes but they use the same story over and over again, which shows that they either ran out of ideas or don't really hire good writers. Morrowind was nice (especially at the beginning) but it's best if it stays there and they use a different beginning. Skyrim should start differently and have a different story than to the previous TES products. As a cold and harsh place, it should have darker undertones in it.

Or just keep it Morrowind style - a short, simple tutorial, that teaches you everything you need to know in the beginning

 

Better yet, have no tutorial at all. Do players in these days really need a hamfisted tutorial section with screens that pop up and say "Press W to walk forward! Press Space to jump!" even though the player is perfectly capable to go to the Controls menu and see what key performs what action in the game? The devs could always include a manual with all relevant information needed to play the game.
